Weekly News at Reidy Creek Elementary School 4/9/2025
Dear Reidy Creek Families,
Spring Break is here! Although it was a short week, it was busy here at Reidy Creek! On Monday, our second graders spent the day at the Fleet Science Center. On Tuesday, the fourth grade visited the Mission San Luis Rey. Our TK and Kindergarten students finished the week with fun spring art projects and an egg hunt around campus!
I also want to congratulate our fifth graders who participated on the STEM Challenge Team. They competed on Saturday against all other elementary schools in the District and came in first place! We are so incredibly proud of them and will be recognizing them at our Friday Assembly once we return from break.
Whether traveling or staying home, I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing Spring Break. We'll see you back on Tuesday, April 22nd.

Book Fair
The Book Fair is returning to Reidy Creek on May 12th-May 16th. This is the BOGO (buy one, get one) event. All classes will be visiting the Book Fair during their regularly scheduled library time. It will be open from 7:30-8:10 and 2:45-3:30 Monday-Thursday if families would like to visit.
Life is BUSY. We get it. Volunteer shifts are short and fun! Schedule ahead a time that works for you and come share bookjoy with your RC family!
Book Fair Homepage & e-wallet Setup
Through the Book Fair Homepage, families can access the online catalog and set up an e-wallet for their students. When funding a current e-wallet, any leftover funds from previous sales will appear as an option in your account!
3rd-5th Grade State Testing
Once we return from Spring Break, teachers will begin preparing students for end-of-year testing. CAASPP tests are given statewide and provide an opportunity to measure the skills of all students against the same academic standards. Given online, the tests are computer-adaptive, allowing a more precise measurement of individual skills. Parents can use their student’s ELA or mathematics results as one of many indicators of their child’s performance. Our staff uses these results to inform our grade level instruction and compare our school's performance toward achieving our state standards.
Mark your calendars! State Testing is scheduled for Tuesday, May 6th - Friday, May 23rd.
All K-5th grade students will also take the Spring iReady Diagnostic test in May. This test provides excellent data on how students have grown towards grade-level standards this year. The testing window will open on May 12th. Classroom teachers will send out more specific information regarding testing dates.
Yearbook Deadline
It's not too late to get a yearbook! Although the link is no longer active, parents can still send in cash or a check to the main office if you'd like to purchase one. Please make sure that your child's name, grade level, and teacher is on the envelope.
Enrollment for Next Year
While we are still focused on all the events and activities that are occurring over the next few months, our school has also begun the preliminary planning stages for next year. Since we use current enrollment numbers to help determine the number of classes needed at each grade level, please let your child's teacher (or the front office) know if you plan on not returning to Reidy Creek next year. This greatly helps our planning efforts.
