MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS MESSAGE FROM PRINCIPAL BANKS

Dear Lindblom Families and Staff,

I am writing to share that I will be taking a short medical leave for hip surgery due to osteoarthritis, a condition where the cartilage in the joints wears down, causing pain and a limited range of motion. I anticipate returning to Lindblom with renewed strength and vitality on Tuesday, January 7, 2025 (without my beloved cane or pain). While I’m away, I have complete confidence in our assistant principals, teachers, counselors, clinicians, restorative justice team, and education support staff to guide and support you. I expect each of you to continue pushing yourselves to be your best — attend school daily, live by our “Be”lief pillars, conduct yourselves with self-respect and dignity, and strive for excellence in your studies. I’ll be thinking of you all, and I look forward to returning soon!

I’d like to introduce you to Mr. Arthur (“Art”) Slater, who will be stepping in to serve as Lindblom’s administrator-in-charge (AIC) beginning on Tuesday, October 15. Mr. Slater is a retired CPS leader who has worked as an AIC at other CPS high schools. He is a dedicated and widely respected educator, and I know he will help Lindblom continue to be an excellent place to learn and work.

While Mr. Slater will handle some of my responsibilities over the next few months, our dedicated assistant principals will also continue their tireless efforts to support you. Please send them any questions or concerns that you would normally send my way. You are also more than welcome to contact Mr. Slater directly at aslater@cps.edu.

In addition, Network 16 staff will also be assisting with this transition and supporting Lindblom as needed throughout the duration of my leave.

Thank you for your continued partnership. I am confident that this will continue to be a smooth and successful school year at Lindblom, and I look forward to being back in my role as principal as soon as possible.

Sincerely,

Principal Banks

Hello LINDBLOM MATH AND SCIENCE ACADEMY families! My name is MaryAnne Confer, and I am the Box Tops for Education Coordinator for our school.

During the ups and downs of the past couple of school years, one thing is certain: teachers and students need more help than ever before. Box Tops is a fast and easy way for you to support LINDBLOM MATH AND SCIENCE ACADEMY. Our goal is to earn $1,500.00 through Box Tops this year to help fund new books for our school library, and we need your help to hit our goal!

Here’s how you can help us reach our goal: Buy Box Tops products, scan your receipt with the Box Tops app within 14 days of purchase and earn for LINDBLOM MATH AND SCIENCE ACADEMY with every Box Tops product you buy. Refer your friends, family and other parents in the school to download the app. You’ll even get Bonus Box Tops for our school with each referral that successfully scans their first receipt. Drop Off/Pick Up

Students can be dropped off or picked up on Wolcott and Winchester. Double Parking is prohibited! Please be considerate of the handicap ramps on Winchester and DO NOT park in front of the ramp. There is Safe Passage surrounding the perimeter of Lindblom and we'd like to enforce a "Kiss and Go" to avoid traffic back-ups; therefore, consider use of alternate blocks (like Damen, 61st Street, etc) for ease of traffic.

Students may enter the building through Door 3 (on Wolcott) or Door 9 (on Winchester). Please be mindful that these are the only doors that students should exit during/after dismissal.

BE EMPOWERED BE EMPOWERED

HVC at the Univ of Chicago Medicine

Heart and Vascular Center Mentorship (HVC) program is designed to provide High School Juniors and Seniors a leg up in pursuing career and education goals in science and medicine, through 1 on 1 mentorship.

Students will have the chance to shadow and learn from doctors, nurses, advanced practice providers, and other scientists and health care professionals at the University of Chicago throughout the duration of the program. Students in the program also receive a laptop ( which they get to keep) and have the opportunity to be part of paid internship over the summer.

In addition to the practical experience students will receive in the program, we also offer tutoring led by UChicago undergraduates and medical students as well as help with college and scholarship applications. We also develop and participate in community service projects in the hospital and the Southside.

Attached is a flyer containing information and here is the registration link for our Virtual Kick Off event Friday, November 1st 2024 5:00 PM-6:00 PM. During this event students will have a chance to learn more about the program from current members and how it has helped them. All students who register will automatically be entered into a drawing for a $200 gift card, and the winner will be announced at the end of the event .

Fall Cultivate Administration begins 10/22

We are committed to elevating student voice and improving students’ daily learning experiences through a focus on instruction and learning conditions. The Fall 2024 CPS Cultivate Survey will be administered for three weeks from October 22-November 8, 2024. The survey window dates will not be extended in order to provide reports in a timely manner. Our goal is at least 90% completion in each grade level. An incentive will be given to students in advisories with a 100% completion rate by 11/05/24. 10/23: 7th-11th graders complete the survey during advisory 10/30: 12th graders omplete the survey during advisory 11/6: Last opportunity to complete the survey during advisory 12/20: Results available to schools

Attendance

"Attendance Matters".....this is a slogan that will be uttered often to our Eagles as we prepare them for post-secondary life. Our week seven attendance ended with 93%. Please keep in mind that late arrivals and early departures impact student's attendance record (one (1) missed block = 0.5 day attendance).
