Hopes and Dreams
Every year students create a Hope and Dream for the school year. It is a way for them to envision the future they want. It opens up discussion about how they want to grow as learners and members of the Pierce community. It also encourages them to reflect and take ownership of their own learning. Teaching them to build off their weakness and turn them into strengths. Ask your child about what they hope to grow in as learners this year
Exploring Our World
What a wonderful first full week of kindergarten! We have been busy learning, exploring, and getting to know our new classroom routines. This week, we worked on strengthening our pincer grasp using broken crayons and practiced drawing on vertical surfaces. We also began learning to tell our left from our right using fun beanbag activities! And, of course, we had so much fun exploring our new math tools! We are off to an amazing start!
Powerful Learning with Mrs. Powell
We are First Graders!
In Mrs. Powells class we have jumped right into learning how to be first graders! We have been practicing routines, talking about our core values, and setting goals for the school year. In math we have learned a few different math games to help us practice our facts and loved counting collections!
Great Things in Garland's Garden
Fairy tales and Gardening
Wow! It has been a busy and super start to school with the sparkling second graders. We have spent our days getting to know each other and establishing our Hopes and Dreams for the Year. The students are listening and discussing traditional fairy tales, while reviewing basic skills in math and phonics. Our highlight was our first Cornucopia visit being detectives discovering the changes in our garden. Be sure to ask your child what they found!
Moving on up with Mrs. Germain and Mrs. Hill
Fourth graders have been writing personal narratives to share a favorite summer memory. In math they worked on finding factor pairs. This led us on a journey to discover what makes a number square, prime, and /or composite.
Third graders defined and give examples of what it means to have courage and had the courage to present in front of our class! In math, students are reading and creating pictographs and bar graphs. If you could travel any way, what would it be?
