Q3 Mid-Term Week & Conferences

Q3 Mid-Term Week& Conferences

Mid-Term Progress Week at EVHS

This week marks the Q3 mid-term week at EVHS. It is during this week that we take an intentional pause and provide all students an opportunity to review and reflect on their individual progress in each of their classes. Our goal is for students to:

  • understand themselves as learners
  • grow their abilities to realistically reflect on their progress
  • develop a plan for their growth
  • increase ownership for their learning

Each student's grade information has been updated in Schoology to show current progress in each of their classes. Please take time to view your student's grades on Schoology and discuss the information with your student (see below for resources for checking your student's grades in Schoology). Teachers will also dedicate time this week for specific reflection on individual student progress in their course (this may be via student conference, journaling, digital or hard copy reflective assignment, etc.); ask your student about their experience and their progress. You can expect individual communication from teachers related to any D/F grades or potential loss of credit.

Remember that the grades reported in Schoology are a snapshot of a student's current progress on any given day; they can change throughout the nine-week grading period. The final day of the first quarter grading period is Friday, April 8th; term grades will be posted to transcripts the following week.

Conferences: Thursday, March 10th

We will follow our Mid-Term Week with an opportunity for parents/guardians to come in for individual conferences with teachers on Thursday, March 10th (5:00 - 8:45pm). See below for more info on what to expect during Conferences.

Conferences: What to Expect

Winter conferences are scheduled for:

  • Thursday, March 10th 5:00pm - 8:45pm

Conferences are drop-in format, so no appointments are necessary. Conferences with each teacher are limited to approximately five minutes to allow teachers to connect with all parents/guardians in attendance. If a longer conversation or conference is needed, we ask you to schedule that with the teacher for another time.

Please print your student's schedule from Infinite Campus or have it available on your mobile device so that you know which teachers to conference with. Pre-printed schedules will not be available for you upon arrival. You will receive a Faculty Locator when you arrive that will include a listing of all of our teachers and their conference locations (due to some teachers sharing classrooms throughout the day, teachers may be stationed at a location that is different than their classroom location listed on your student's schedule).

Please plan to attend and visit your student's teachers. You are welcome to conference with as many teachers as you wish during the times listed above. Any specific teacher exceptions to the schedule above (i.e. teachers who teach at more than one school) will be communicated in advance by the teacher and posted during conferences.

NEW: Spanish and Somali interpreters will be available for parents/guardians needing interpreter services. Please check in at the table by the West Entrance for more information on how to access these services.

Conference CONGRATS!

During conferences, you will have an opportunity to say CONGRATS to your student(s) and/or THANKS to your students' teachers. You can personalize a card with your own words of encouragement and/or gratitude. Cards are free of charge and will be delivered to students and teachers next week. Our AVID program students will have tables set up in the second floor hallway - stop by their table to send your card!

Q2 Report Cards

Second quarter grades have been finalized and Q2 report cards are accessible on the Infinite Campus Portal. Once you are logged into the Portal, you have two options for viewing end-term grades:

  • Click on the Menu Bar (three horizontal lines at the upper left) and then click GRADES. Click the Q2 box to see your student's term GPA (average of grades for just first quarter courses) and individual course grades with teacher comments.

  • Click on the Menu Bar and then click on DOCUMENTS --> QUARTER 2 REPORT CARD to get a one-page formal report card, suitable for printing.

  • To see your student's cumulative GPA (average of grades for all courses taken throughout high school), click on DOCUMENTS --> HS TRANSCRIPT; this will also allow you to view all of the courses and grades your student has taken at Eastview High School.

Extended Day Credit Recovery

Eastview offers credit recovery courses after school for students with credit deficiencies. Courses in English, Social Studies, Math and Science are offered. The Spring I session begins on Monday, March 28th and goes through April 22nd. Click here for more information and to register your student for the next session. Students should see their School Counselor to determine if credit recovery is necessary.
