Back to School Community Newsletter
Dear Students and Families,
Happy Summer!
I hope this newsletter finds you all happy and healthy and enjoying the beautiful summer weather. There is still ample time to enjoy summer, but school is fast approaching and we want to make sure you have all the resources and information you need as you prepare for a great year.
Let me introduce myself. I am Donna Huxford, the new principal for CNJJHS this year. For those of you who don't know me, I have been serving as the assistant principal for CNJJHS for the past two years, and I am very excited to take the helm, as I strive to lead our jaguar family to great new heights. I am joined by Mark Brunsdale as our new assistant principal and Erik Jordan as our administrative intern.
I am particularly excited to be at Clarke N. Johnsen this year as we celebrate the 20th Anniversary of this great school. So many amazing things have happened in the past 20 years since our doors opened, and we want to continue that legacy of excellence for the next 20+ years come.
In honor of our 20th year, we are having a celebration to be held on our Back-to-School Night, August 17 from 5-7 p.m. There will be FREE Chili and breadsticks (while supplies last) along with loads of information to help you get the school year off on the right foot. We also have student t-shirts to give out, and our teachers will be ready to meet you and start your educational path this year. Please join us as we honor our school.
From all of us at CNJJHS, welcome to 2026-2027 school year!
Sincerely,
Principal Huxford

π₯³ STUDENT CELEBRATIONS!
NEW to CNJJHS -- J.A.G.S.!
This year our βTracks to Achievementβ (T2A) activity will be replaced with a new student reward program called J.A.G.S.--Jaguars Achieving Great Success! We have made a few changes to better serve our students. We will kick off the year with our first activity on October 2 at the movie theatre.
In order to qualify to participate in our J.A.G.S. activities students must meet the following requirements.
- 2.0-2.5 GPA (2.0 Term 1, 2.2 Term 2, 2.4 Term 3, 2.5 Term 4)
- 90% Attendance
No more than 1 Tardy per week
No Out-of-School Suspensions
Citizenship: No U's and less than 3 N's
Students will track their qualifications each week in their CLIMB classes, and final qualification will take place on September 21 or 22, also in the student's CLIMB class. Permission slips will be distributed to those that meet the qualifications. Students who qualify but do not turn in a permission slip will get to stay in remediation for the day. We are also implementing an appeal system for students who have extenuating circumstances that may have led to their inability to meet the qualifications. More info to come in your student's CLIMB class.
As students strive to qualify for our rewards activities we hope to see them reach great success in their educational journey.
STAFF SHOUT OUT! π£
Shout out to the front faces of our CNJJHS Staff--our secretaries!
These amazing individuals are the heart of our school. They are the first people you meet as you enter our doors and they have answers to almost every question. They serve tirelessly to take care of the needs of all of our students and staff every day. We couldn't do it without them. It is not unlikely that the most influential person in a student's time at school is the school secretary. They are kind, compassionate individuals who are always there to help. We thank them for all they do!

NEW RESOURCES FOR OUR FAMILIES π‘
Homework Binder
Parent/Guardian Help!
Folder Organization
In addition, these folders will be checked weekly in the student's CLIMB class to assist them in completing their schoolwork and getting it turned in. We are asking for your support at home in using the binders. See the link above for a guide as to how parents can help us implement this system. Please ask students about their work and help them keep these folders organized as they complete work at home. Consider rewarding your student as they stay on top of their assignments and schoolwork. And of course, please always help your student to make sure they are keeping their binder in their backpacks so it is readily available each day at school. There is a fee if a binder needs to be replaced.
