Principal's Message
As we move into this joyful season, I’m reminded of how many meaningful traditions help make Dewey such a special place. One of those traditions—Santa’s Night—is happening this Friday, and we hope your family can join us for an evening of connection and celebration. Whether you’re visiting with Santa, enjoying cookies and crafts, or having your child shop in the Kids Only Shoppe, it’s a wonderful time to come together as a community.
Each year, our traditions also reflect our shared commitment to caring for one another. This year, we are collecting unwrapped gifts for children ages 5–12 to support families within our Dewey/SJUSD community. If you are able, we welcome your donations as part of this season of giving. Your generosity truly brightens the holidays for those around us.
As we head into the colder months, we know that colds and flu are making their rounds. If your child needs to stay home due to illness, please contact the office so we can help keep attendance records up to date and support your family as needed.
Thank you for being such an important part of the Dewey community. We are grateful for the kindness, partnership, and spirit you bring to our school each and every day.
Warm regards,
Sabrina Parsley, principal

Help us spread some holiday cheer!
Our PFO is collecting new, unwrapped toys to support students and families across San Juan Unified. Bring a gift to school next week or donate at Santa’s Night. Your kindness makes the season brighter for our community!
Pre Sale for Kids Only Shoppe
A flyer was sent home with your student today for Friday's Santa Night - Student Shoppe. We have provided a last-minute pre-sale option, so parents can send in money ahead of time with their child to give to their teacher or pay via Venmo (flyer) instead of bringing cash the night of the event. Pre-sale tickets go on sale today through Thursday at midnight. Limited change will be provided at the door.
Come enjoy the Student Shoppe and support our 6th Graders!

Cold and flu season is upon us!
We know this time of year often brings an increase in colds and flu, and many of our students have needed a few days at home to rest and recover. To help us keep attendance records accurate, please remember to send a doctor’s note whenever your child is seen by a medical provider.
You can easily check your child’s current illness absences through the Parent Portal, or feel free to call the school office or send an email to deweyabsence@sanjuan.edu and we’ll be happy to assist you.
Student and Family Wellness Support
If your child or family is in need of support, we are here to help. Our school social worker can assist with a wide range of needs—from social-emotional support for students to connecting families with community resources and services.

Be A Tiger Helper … Save All Little Toiletry Samples
As you are traveling this holiday season, please keep in mind that Dewey collects all small toiletries that you may receive at your hotels (shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower caps, soap, toothpaste, sewing kits, etc.). Another great place to pick up some extra toiletries is your dental office. The free toothbrush, toothpaste, and dental floss they offer you are great items to donate as well. Please drop off your donations in the office or to Mrs. Ruswinkle in room 9. All items donated will be sent to the women and children at Wellspring Women’s Center.
Thank you!
