HMS Hiller Heads-Up
All the news from Hopkinton Middle School
Note from the Principal
Dear Families:
I am sharing a message today regarding our afternoon dismissal in the water tower parking lot. I want to take this opportunity to highlight items that will keep everyone; students, staff and families, safe during pick-up time:
Please use the pick-up lane designated by the blue painted lines. Students will only be allowed to enter cars when their car is parked along the school building. Families picking up students in the parking spaces or in the rows creates an unsafe situation as students need to walk through areas where cars are moving.
One of the challenges at dismissal is cars pulling out of the pickup line to exit once they have their student. When pulling out of the line please proceed slowly and pay attention to staff members who are working to manage the crosswalk.
Once in the lot, please note that all traffic patterns and lanes are one way. Families should not enter the parking rows. We are planning to set up traffic cones to reinforce this.
In general, please take your time and be aware of the amount of movement taking place in the water tower lot. Our staff members are present to ensure the safety of our students. Thank you for your cooperation as we continue to work to keep our school community safe.

HMS Community Read
HMS Community Read November 14th 7-8pm in the Hopkinton Middle School Library
Please join us for the inaugural HMS Community Read on November 14th from 7 - 8pm in the Hopkinton Middle School library. Students and families are invited to read Jacqueline Woodson’s Harbor Me and to come together for an evening to engage in discussions and activities centered around the book. As the characters discover in the novel, time spent together sharing their stories is a powerful way to build connection and community. Likewise, we hope that this event will serve to further grow our “active community of strong minds and kind hearts” at HMS. On November 14th we have the opportunity to make connections with one another and to celebrate diversity, creativity, and respect. All readers in your home are welcome to attend! If you will be able to join us, please fill out the HMS Community Read RSVP form.

Picture Retake Day
Retake day is for new students, transfer students, or for anyone who may have missed the initial picture day, OR for anyone who was unhappy with their original picture and would like to give it another try. If a student would like the retake photo to replace the original photo, please have the student return the original picture package to the photographer on picture day. They will replace the original package at no additional cost.
If this is the first time being photographed, just have the student/staff go to the camera and we’ll create a proof for them that will be sent to the school (and/or to their family email if we have that information). These proofs will be delivered approx. 4 weeks after picture day. An order code will be on the proof along with ordering instructions.

Any art supplies in good condition (pencils, crayons, markers, coloring books, erasers, etc.) are welcome!
