The Last Week of school - Pep Rally and Goodbyes

The Dragons enjoyed a fun-filled Pep Rally on Wednesday featuring performances by students from Vocal Jazz, Jazz Band, Dance, this year's Davidsen Idol winner, Static the band, and the awesome DMS Pep Squad. We also recognized athletes, our Distinguished Dragons, teacher superlatives, and had a great time celebrating the end of the year together.

Band Spring Concert

On May the 4th, band students performed their spring concert "Cinematic Adventures" at Sickles High School. This concert was the culmination of all the work students put in this year and highlights the amazing growth they’ve had as musicians. Congratulations band students, and to our graduating 8th graders, Ms. Held has high hopes for your continued musical journeys in high school!

There are opportunities for your band student to gain experience and enjoy playing music over the summer! Check out the following summer band camps hosted by local Universities for middle school aged band musicians:

Teacher Appreciation Week

The PTSA and Davidsen admin treated our teachers and staff to a fun week of lunches, treats, and goodies to show our appreciation for all they do for our kids. Thank you to all the parents who remembered to send in a special thank you during this week, and thank you to our Teacher Appreciation Chair, Jessica Nartker for organizing and providing amazing food all week long!

Farewell 8th Grade Dragons

Recognition, Celebrations, and Memories

May was a big month for the graduating 8th grade class of 2026. Students were honored for their achievements, danced the night away at the 8th grade dance, and spent time looking back at their time in middle school as they begin to make their transformation into high schoolers!

8th Grade Awards

2026 Distinguished Dragons, Aniel Moncada and Nelia Ngo

We celebrated the many achievements of the Dragons with grade level award ceremonies in May. On May 19th the 8th Grade Awards Ceremony was hosted by our awesome student MC’s Mariah and Julia. Pictured below are some of the night’s awardees. Congratulations to all of the students for their hard work and dedication!

Yearbook Signing Party

8th Graders had a chance to sign yearbooks and enjoy a slideshow of middle school memories in May. The DMS Yearbook is created each year by the Yearbook Class led by Ms. Mikhail, with additional input from the DMS AV Club. Congratulations on doing a fabulous job creating this keepsake for students to remember their time at Davidsen.

8th Grade Dance 2026

8th Grade Dance: A Night Between Worlds!

Davidsen’s 8th grade class of 2026 celebrated their transition from middle to high school with music, mystery, and friends in “A Night Between Worlds” at the 8th Grade Dance. There are stranger things than going to high school… or are there? One thing we do know, the Davidsen PTSA 8th Grade committee knocked it out of the park again this year and the kids had a ball! We'd also like to thank admin and teachers for supporting the 8th grade dance each year, and all of the parent volunteers without whom, the 8th grade dance would not be possible.

Rising 8th Grade parents: We need your help to celebrate the class of ‘27

Awesome 8th Grade events like this depend on having a new group of 8th grade parent volunteers like you every year!

Volunteering is easy, just fill out the district volunteer application

If you want to get involved in 8th grade activities only, email president@davidsenptsa.org

Some parting advice - from those who’ve been there

We couldn’t leave without sharing this last AV Club video made by students with some advice for next year. Have a great summer!

Davidsen Middle School on Instagram: "What’s your advice for surviving middle school? Congrats 8th graders you did it! 🐉💙"

A small investment of time - priceless returns!

Each year the PTSA welcomes and says goodbye to board and committee members as they follow their students through grades and graduations. This means that each year our PTSA encourages and invites new parents and family members to step up to join a PTSA Committee. You do not need to be a stay-at-home parent to support your student through PTSA involvements! Whether it’s your first year volunteering or your last, it’s one of the most fulfilling ways you can spend your time, and middle schoolers absolutely still need your support.

The PTSA board and committees support students, parents, and teachers by planning, raising funds, and volunteering in the areas of special events, academic incentives, teacher grants, and many other ways that help make middle school a fun and memorable time for our kids.

We know life is busy - remember that time spent on your child is time worth carving out! Most of our Board and committee members work outside of their roles in the PTSA. If you have any time in your schedule, joining our PTSA as a committee or board member is one of the most valuable ways to invest that time. Email PTSA president Beth Kocol if you would like to learn more about how to get more involved in supporting your student and the Dragon family by joining a PTSA committee.

Canvas

Canvas is a required digital platform for all students, and it's also a great tool for supporting your student by allowing you to monitor grades and encourage them to make the effort they need to do well in all of their classes. All students and teachers use Canvas for grading and communication.

Important school wide announcements are also made on Canvas via the "Dragon's Den" page.

By having the Canvas app on your phone, you can easily check in with your student's teachers and see grades as they are entered by teachers.

Campus Safety and FortifyFL

Campus safety is a top priority for all students and staff. You can also help keep our school safe and secure by downloading a new app created in 2018 as part of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School Public Safety Act. FortifyFL was designed to strengthen school security by giving Florida students and the community the ability to report and instantly relay information anonymously concerning threats or other potentially harmful activities to the appropriate law enforcement agencies and school officials. Download FortifyFL from the App Store or Google Play. https://getFortifyFL.com

Davidsen PTSA

The Davidsen PTSA brings parents together with teachers and staff to support all students at Davidsen. By joining the PTSA you can help support important activities, classroom enhancements, and be among the first to hear about news and opportunities.

Join the PTSA

You can also sign up to volunteer with the PTSA by emailing volunteers@davidsenptsa.org

Volunteers must also complete the district volunteer form.
