Congratulations Class of 2026
Underclass Device Collection
As a reminder, 5/26 and 5/27 we will be collecting ALL underclassmen computers via 9th/10th grade PE, and 11th grade Social Studies. We will be collecting outside of the old attendance office once again for the entire day. PE and Social Studies Teachers, please bring your students down as soon as possible each block so we can try and process through them as fast as possible!
The only students who keep their computers are apart of the following groups:
- Virtual Virginia
- Spotsy Online
- IB
Any student who does not turn in a computer by the end of the school day 5/29 will receive a fine of $450.
Please remind your students that ALL stickers need to be removed prior to turning in their computer (this does not include the pouch holding their ID card, or the barcode on the bottom of the device). Additionally, they need to have a working HP charger that goes with their computer, and as they approach the check in tables, their computer is opened fully and turned on.
Parent Portal Information
Dear Families,
We want to remind you about the Virginia Assessment Parent Portal - a secure website where you can view your child’s SOL scores. You can visit the portal at: https://va-results.pearsonaccessnext.com. Test scores from the Spring 2026 SOL tests (non-writing) will be available about 10 days after your child takes the test.
What You’ll See in the Portal:
- Your child’s SOL scores
- A Student Detail by Question (SDBQ) Report that shows how your child answered each question
- In some cases, a personalized video that explains your child’s results and suggests helpful resources from the Virginia Department of Education at https://tinyurl.com/VAparentpage
- A Spring SOL Parent Report, which explains your child’s performance in a clear, easy-to-read format (more info. can be found at https://www.doe.virginia.gov/parents-students/parent-resources/assessment)
How to Get Started:
- Visit the Parent Portal: https://va-results.pearsonaccessnext.com
- Follow the steps in the Parent Portal User’s Guide to create and activate your account.
- Once your account is set up, you’ll need:
- Your child’s first and last name
- Date of birth
- A Claim Code
You can find your child’s Claim Code in ParentVUE:
- If you're using the website: go to the Student Info tab and look at the bottom of the page.
- If you're using the app: go to the Student Info tab and tap Additional Information.
Note: If you’ve used the Parent Portal before, you’ll need to enter a new Claim Code to
view this year’s results.
Important for 5th and 8th Grade Families: The Integrated Reading and Writing (IRW) test results are not in the Parent Portal. To get a copy of that report, please contact your child’s school.
If you have any questions about how to use the Parent Portal or understand your child’s results, please reach out to the school’s testing coordinator:

Evolv Information
Evolv Message to Parents
Spotsylvania County Public Schools takes the safety of our students and staff very seriously. To enhance our existing security efforts at Spotsylvania High School, beginning on March 4th, we will launch the Evolv Detection System to screen students and visitors for potential weapons.
The Evolv weapons detection screening systems will be installed at the following locations (please see the map below):
• Parent Dropoff - Main Doors/Front Entrance for
• Bus Entrance/Student Drivers - Stairwells off the academic wing
All students and guests entering the building will walk through the Evolv screening detector. Students will need to remove their Chromebook from their backpack and prepare to hand it to a staff member when they get to the detector. Students will wear their backpacks and carry any other items (instrument cases, purses, gym bags, etc.) through the detector for screening. Students will simply walk through the screening system and follow the instructions of staff members stationed there to assist them.
About the Evolv Screening System:
The Evolv screening detector uses artificial intelligence and sensor technology to determine if an individual has a weapon on their person or contained within any items passing through the sensors. The detector can distinguish between a phone, keys, or other personal items from a potential weapon. The technology is quick and can screen 10 times faster than traditional metal detectors, reducing wait times. The Evolv screening detector we are using is the same system that has scanned more than 350 million people in the US, second only to the Transportation Security Administration (TSA). This technology is used at locations around the U.S., including s schools, hospitals, theme parks, stadiums, and workplaces.
What happens when the System Alerts?
A low-volume alarm and a visible red light will alert staff of the potential threat. At the same time, the scanner will send an image to a tablet screen that shows the area where the potential threat is located. The individual will then follow the school's secondary screening guidelines, where staff will direct the student to empty their pockets, backpack, or belongings based on where the tablet identified the location of the threat. Students found with items that violate school board policy will be disciplined as per the Student Code of Conduct.
A video will be shared with students and parents prior to the installation to provide students a look at the system and share our expectations. We encourage you to discuss these new procedures with your child and stress the importance of following the directions of those overseeing the scanning process. Also, please stress the importance of only bringing needed items to school.
Thank you for your continued support in keeping our schools a safe learning environment. If you have any questions about the new Evolv detection system, please reach out to me.
