SCHOOL STARTS ON MONDAY! SCHOOL STARTS ON MONDAY!

Friday, August 28th, 2026 Friday, August 28th, 2026

Glenwood Families,

It is hard to believe that the first day of school is almost here!

It was great to see so many of you at yesterday’s Open House. Despite the downpours, Glenwood families came out in large numbers to visit classrooms, meet teachers, and begin connecting with their new classroom communities. The excitement from our students was wonderful to see.

Our staff has spent the past several weeks preparing classrooms, learning together, and getting everything ready to welcome students on Monday, August 31.

We know the first day brings a mix of excitement, anticipation, and perhaps a few nerves. Whether your child is joining us for kindergarten, returning to a familiar classroom, or beginning their first year at Glenwood, we look forward to helping every student feel welcomed, supported, and ready for a great year.

Please take a few minutes this weekend to review your child’s transportation information, school supplies, and any communication from their teacher. Most importantly, enjoy these final summer days as a family and get a good night’s rest on Sunday.

We cannot wait to welcome our students back to Glenwood on Monday and begin another great year together. Thank you for your partnership and for being part of The Glenwood Way.

Best,

Josh Rehak, Principal

Welcome Miss Segal!

Miss Segal wanted to share a message with our Glenwood Community!

Hello Glenwood Families! My name is Macey Segal, and I am beyond excited to be joining the counseling department at Glenwood Elementary this year!

My journey in education began with studying elementary education and teaching throughout the School District of Philadelphia, followed by working as a special education teacher in Montgomery County. My passion for supporting students socially, academically, and emotionally ultimately led me to Villanova University, where I earned my master’s degree in counseling and further developed my skills and passion for helping students thrive in these areas.

I believe every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported at school. I look forward to building meaningful relationships with students and partnering with families and staff to help every child thrive!

Best,

Miss Segal

Miss Segal will be the lead school counselor focusing on grades Kindergarten, 2nd and 4th grades. Mrs. Vellios-Miller will be the lead school counselor in grades 1st, 3rd, and 5th. While Miss Segal and Mrs. Vellios-Miller will work together to meet the needs of our entire school community everyday, this specific focus will help ensure a clear point person, deeper familiarity, better follow-through, and smaller caseload focus.

We can't wait to welcome your children on Monday, August 31st!

Best,

Miss Segal and Mrs. Vellios-Miller

Kindergarten Dash

All Kindergarten students are invited to join us for our annual "KINDERGARTEN DASH". Sponsored by the Penncrest Athletic Boosters, this is our way to welcome our Future Penncrest Lions to the RTMSD... they will be the Class of 2039!

Kindergarten participants will line up together and run the length of the turf field together before our 7 pm home football game on Thursday September 3rd vs. Strath Haven! All Kindergarten participants will receive a "Future LION" t-shirt they can wear for the event.

Kindergarten families should arrive at 6:15 pm, receive your t-shirt, and meet on the track at 6:30 pm (near the scoreboard end of the field). Kindergarten students will walk the far end of the field (with the help of some high school volunteers) and then run toward their parent standing by the scoreboard. New this year: Penncrest SENIORS will stand along the sidelines, to fully represent "K through 12" students in our district!

The dash will be held at 6:40 pm. Students will be asked to quickly leave the field after the run, to allow the football team time to warm up. This is NOT a drop-off event. We ask only one parent/guardian on the field with your kindergarten student (no siblings).

Football game admission is $5 per adult (ages 12 and up). Cash only—please try to have exact change. Known as the "Media Bowl," this game typically draws a large crowd, so please plan to arrive early as parking may be limited. (Due to the holiday weekend, there will be no school on Friday, September 4th.)
