Things to Know
Our mission at Williams Elementary School is to provide a strong foundation for all students. Through rigorous instruction that is tailored to the needs of each student, we strive to develop life long learners that Engage, Inspire, and Challenge our students at all levels. We do this by developing lessons that engage our students, utilize student data that drive instruction, and utilize curriculum and resources that are rigorous and that meet grade level and student needs.
WES Behavior Expectations
We encourage all students to show their Hawk PRIDE. At Williams ES, students are expected to follow the following schoolwide expectations daily. Each classroom has their own expectations to follow in additon to the schoolwide expectations. When all expectations are followed, students can be invited to our monthly PBIS celebrations. Students who do no meet these expectations will attend a class geared toward correcting behaviors that do not meet the expectations.

ATTENTION 3RD GRADE PARENTS
Alabama Literacy Act
3rd Grade Parents,
Please click on the link below to learn more information about the Alabama Literacy Act and how it may or may not affect 3rd Grade students. As you may know, Alabama placed into law an act that states that all 3rd Grade students must be proficient in Reading before moving on to the 4th Grade. Students will take the ACAP Summative Assessment in the Spring that will determine mastery. Students must meet a cut score of in order to be considered for promotion. Students who do not meet this goal will be identified and parameters will be put in place. There are some exceptions to this law fro qualifying students.
There will be a meeting in January geared toward the explanation of this law and how it effects students. I encourage all parents to attend.
For more information, you can reach out to your child's teacher.
Daily Attendance is a Expectation in order for students to Grow Academically
HCS and Williams Elementary asks for the support of families in promoting strong attendance habits. Please ensure your student is at school on time every day and ready to learn. WE strive for 100% Daily Attendance
Cell Phone Usage
While students may possess devices, they must be shut off and put away during the school day. Students are not allowed to use devices for phone calls, texting, or taking pictures or video unless granted permission by the teacher or administrator.
School and Campus Safety
HCS remains committed to promoting the safety of students and staff members. HCS has the largest campus security team in North Alabama and numerous supports in place to promote positive learning environments.
We ask families for their ongoing support in checking their child’s backpack and ensuring students cannot access any items that could present potential safety risks.
Additionally, please speak with your student about the “see something, say something” protocol to make us aware of any potential issues.
