Personalized Instruction Monitoring 70-70-70

Curriculum Associates iReady made updates to the platform on 2/22 that modified the layout of the Personalized Instruction Summary on the Dashboard. You likely saw the update in the bottom right corner when you logged in. K-5 schools had no impact to the view. However, the layout for our 6-8 and K-8 schools was updated. Melanie Nelson and Kai Thompson have recorded this video to walk through how to determine 70-70-70 in the updated view.

MyPath Lessons Surpassed for Older Learners

Some teachers of 7th and 8th grade students have noticed limited personalized instruction lessons for some learners. As students exceed the instructional level of the personalized instruction (grade 8), students may have limited to no available MyPath lessons. Standards Mastery lessons aligned to the student's standard deficit from classroom observation and/or CFA performance is the recommended next step. Standards Mastery does count towards the 70-70-70.

Please note that this impacts very few students across the District so please ensure that you do not confuse limited availability or no lessons with domains that are turned off. If you have questions, please email RTI2@scsk12.org.

High School Spring Administration

High Schools will screen students identified at risk on the Early Warning System using iReady Diagnostic between March 30-April 10. The Early Warning System is found in PowerBi under the RTI2A Dashboard Reports. Schools should begin planning on which dates they will administer screeners. Questions can be sent to RTI2@scsk12.org.

Multi-modal Approach

Ms. Jones at Westside Elementary School is teaching with Reading Horizons Discovery. Students show strong routines for segmenting words, reflecting consistent practice. She embraces the Reading Horizons multimodal approach by getting students on their feet for whole-class transfer.

Grade 3 aimswebPlus Spring Benchmark

The Grade 3 aimswebPlus Spring Benchmark Testing Window is open from March 30-April 10. Schools should begin to plan their schedule for Grade 3 Pearson aimswebPlus testing with the reminder that teacher of record cannot administer the assessment to students. Please plan to administer the assessment over several days to reduce test fatigue.

This assessment requires three subtests (ORF, VOC, and RC) be completed in order to generate a composite score and to be considered for one of the pathways for promotion according to the Literacy Success Act. Failure to complete all three subtests will remove this pathway option from consideration.

Questions regarding Literacy Commitment can be emailed to literacycommitment@scsk12.org and questions regarding Grade 3 aimswebPlus administration can be emailed to rti2@scsk12.org .

Tajma Tabor, Douglass K-8

During the intervention at Douglass K–8, Tajma Tabor used the “you do” group activity and independent practice as an opportunity for students to move around the classroom and work in various areas. Students completed their group task at the Promethean Board and their independent practice on chart paper placed throughout the room. After students finished their independent work, Ms. Tabor facilitated a gallery walk, allowing the class to review, analyze, and provide feedback on one another’s responses.

Christine Fondren, Raleigh-Egypt Middle School

At Raleigh-Egypt Middle School, Christine Fondren effectively applied the gradual release of responsibility throughout her lesson. During the independent practice phase, she utilized aggressive monitoring to ensure that all students were progressing toward mastery. When she noticed students experiencing difficulty, she brought the class back together, modeled the skill again, and conducted an additional “we do” segment before releasing students to continue working independently.
