Principal's Update
2/24/2026
Good Morning Memorial Families,
While losing an hour of sleep is never fun, I sure did enjoy the later sunset last night. We have made it through the darkest part of the year and are quickly heading into springtime. Today and tomorrow we should see quite a bit of the snowpack melting and hopefully it will not be long until the buds are appearing everywhere.
We had such a wonderful visit from Sheryl Faye last week, portraying the life of Abigail Adams. Students were able to learn about her life, and her advocacy for women even way back in the beginning of our country. Students learned that she lived nearby in Boston and was an important part of the founding of our country. Thank you to the PTO, for funding her return once again this year. We look forward to seeing her again next spring.
Tonight at Nipmuc, Dr. Cohen will be presenting the proposed FY27 school district budget and there will be an open hearing where community members may ask questions or make statements about the budget. This meeting will be taking place in the Nipmuc High School auditorium at 7:00pm.
Mrs. Hagen and a group of third and fourth graders have published the first edition of the MES Press, and it is a great read! Please click here to read!
As a reminder, there is no school for students this Friday. Our teachers will be engaging in professional development, including continued training on our new ELA and SLA curriculum resource. Have a great week!
Warmly,
Wendy

Save the Date: MURSD Multicultural Night
Help us Choose a New MURSD Mascot!
As you know, the Mendon-Upton Regional School District began the process of phasing out Native American imagery and the mascot starting in 2021. This aligned with the expressed wishes of the Nipmuc Nation as well as the social trends within the Commonwealth.
With all of the exciting changes that we are undertaking over the next twenty-four months, including creating a new athletic facility, we are excited to rebrand Nipmuc Regional High School and MURSD with a new mascot. With that in mind, we are interested in your input! Through March 9, we will be accepting nominations, suggestions, creative thoughts, and ideas for what you think the new mascot should be.
Please take a few moments to fill out this form with your thoughts on what the mascot should be, as well as why you think that’s the best name. We value everyone’s opinion during this exciting chapter of Nipmuc Regional and MURSD. Please be part of this exciting change!
