LRC Weekly Update
August 24th 2025

October 5th 2025
The Bookfair is Here!
This week is a special one for our students! Our in-person Book Fair is in full swing, offering a fantastic selection of books and educational items.
Important Schedule Changes
Please note the following changes to our regular routines for the duration of the book fair:
No regular library time or book check-outs will occur this week. We need the space to host our fair and thank you in advance for your flexibility.
Classes will not have a scheduled time to shop. To offer more flexibility, we are implementing a new system this year.
New Shopping Procedure: Passes
New this year, we are managing student shopping with a pass system to allow for more flexible shopping throughout the school day:
The LRC has created laminated passes for you to use.
You may send up to five students at a time to the book fair to purchase books using these passes.
Please feel free to send students when it is convenient for your classroom schedule during the school day.
We appreciate your flexibility and cooperation as we host this exciting event!
Bookfair Volunteer Sign-Up
We are looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help make our upcoming book fair a huge success!
We need help with a variety of tasks, including assisting students with finding books, managing the checkout process, and tidying up the displays. Your time and energy would be greatly appreciated and directly contribute to creating a wonderful experience for our students. If you are available to lend a hand, please sign up using the link below.

🎤 Live Stream Read-alouds - Update 🎤
A big thank you to everyone who participated in the poll to select the best time for our school-wide read-alouds! Your input is greatly appreciated.
The results are in, and the winning time is 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
We'll be announcing the dates for quick, fun read-aloud sessions scheduled throughout the school year in emails and our newsletter. We can't wait to share some great stories with you!
🎉 Hispanic Heritage Month 🎉
Come celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month from September 15th - Oct. 15th in the library! We've got a large selection of books on display and would love to host read-a-louds for your classes.
Please take a look at my LRC Schedule and comment if you'd like an extra read-aloud in the LRC or your classroom to celebrate!

Tech Tidbits and Information
Chromebook Troubleshooting Tips
Here's a how-to slideshow with some basic troubleshooting tips for chromebooks. It includes information on how to fix a sideways screen, clearing your cache and turning off accessibility mode.
Vivi Updates - Extended Screen
For those who wanted to extend their desktops instead of mirror your screen you now can! Using the desktop vivi app you can set up multiple screens. Here's a quick how-to from microsoft or please reach out to Kristine to help!
YouTube Update
Elementary students cannot access YouTube as of June 2025. While this has its good points it may create a wrinkle in your teaching if you want students to utilize secondary video sources. But fear not! there is a workaround.
If you want to continue to use YouTube videos and have students access them you can embed them in google slides. If you have any questions about how to embed videos in your slides please reach out to Kristine. :)
Daily Sub Tech Capabilities
New this year, daily subs will use a chromebook issued from the LRC. These devices can connect to Vivi using classlink, however, daily subs do not have the ability to print.
They also do not have access to many Classlink and instructional apps. Please keep this in mind when you are planning an absence.
Below is a snapshot of what you're daily substitute will see in classlink.
