A Note from Mrs. Phillips

Dear Hornet Families/Friends,

Welcome back, Fayette Central families! I hope you all had a restful and joyful break. However, we know that not every break comes with positive experiences; for some, it may have been a challenging time. As we return to school, let’s embrace the opportunity for a fresh start. Quarter 3 is a time to refocus on our goals, support one another, and make meaningful progress both academically and socially. Together, we can make this a great semester for our students.

Our teachers have been analyzing mid-year NWEA data, providing critical insights into student progress and improvement areas. This data, combined with results from Common Formative Assessments (CFAs), helps us identify specific skill deficits and tailor lessons to meet those needs. Regular data monitoring ensures that we are on track to help every child grow and succeed. Monday, January 6th, your student has an early release day and our teachers are deep-diving into this data to plan instruction. Your child's report card and NWEA Mid-Year assessment scores will be coming home in Thursday folders. As always, if you have any questions regarding your child's progress, please reach out to your teacher.

As we begin the new semester, it’s a great time to review our school-wide behavior expectations. At Fayette Central, we emphasize our FLY expectations: Follow directions, Listen and learn, and give Your personal best. These principles help create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment where everyone can thrive. Please reinforce these expectations at home as we continue to work together to support positive behavior and strong character in our students.

Attendance is a critical factor in student success, and we need your help to meet our 95% attendance goal. While our overall attendance for Semester 1 was strong at 95.5%, December saw a dip below our goal. Here is a breakdown of December attendance:

  • Kindergarten: 94.3%
  • 1st Grade: 93.8%
  • 2nd Grade: 94.8%
  • 3rd Grade: 92.6%
  • 4th Grade: 94.7%
  • 5th Grade: 95.1%
  • 6th Grade: 93.1%

Please remember that every school day counts! Here are a few tips to support strong attendance:

  • Establish consistent bedtime and morning routines to ensure students arrive on time.
  • Schedule appointments and vacations outside of school hours whenever possible.
  • Communicate with the school if your child is sick or experiencing difficulties so we can support their return.

Thank you for partnering with us to make Fayette Central a place where every student can learn, grow, and thrive. Let’s make Quarter 3 our best yet!
