Principally speaking
As we wrap up our first trimester, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible learning, growth, and engagement happening across our classrooms. Our students have shown curiosity, perseverance, and kindness in so many ways—from their academic progress to the positive choices they make every day. It’s been wonderful to see their excitement for learning continue to grow!
Next week will be another busy and meaningful week at Fox Ridge:
-
CogAT Testing: Our 3rd and 5th grade students will take the Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT) beginning Wednesday, November 12, 2025-Friday, November 14,2025.
-
Veterans Day Assembly: On Tuesday, we will honor our veterans during a special all-school assembly at 9:30. This is always a powerful time for our students to reflect on the importance of service and gratitude.
-
Character Assembly: On Friday, students in grades 3–5 will attend a character education assembly focused on leadership, empathy, and making positive choices.
We will also take time next week to recognize students who have demonstrated Respect, Responsibility, and Safety — our “3 Be’s.” These students will receive our Fantastic Fox Awards in recognition of their hard work, strong character, and positive example for others.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Our students’ success is made possible by the strong collaboration between home and school. I’m so proud of what we’ve accomplished together this trimester and excited for what’s ahead!
Parent Education & Empowerment Series:
Guiding Students from Avoidance to Achievement
Join us for an engaging and practical three-part series designed to help parents navigate the growing challenges of anxiety and school avoidance. Led by Dr. Megan Schmitz of Vital Living Wellness Solutions, these sessions will give parents tools to:
Recognize anxiety in their child and understand its impact on learning and growth.
Learn strategies to balance empathy and compassion with boundaries and expectations.
Gain concrete tools to support positive school attendance and resilience.
Where: St. Charles North High School Auditorium
Time: 6:00–8:00 p.m.
Dates: October 8 • October 22 • November 12
This series is designed to strengthen the partnership between families and schools, offering tools and strategies that foster belonging, perseverance, and achievement. Together, we can create the support and consistency children need to thrive. Please note: An interpreter/translator will be available for families who need language support.

In November, we will take time to honor our veterans.
If you have a family member, friend, or loved one who has served in the military and you would like to recognize them, please print and complete the form below. You may include a picture, and we will proudly display these throughout our school to honor their service.
We will also hold an all-school Veterans Day assembly on Tuesday, November 11, at 9:30 a.m. Veterans are invited to attend and be honored during this special event.
Thank you for helping us celebrate and show appreciation for the brave men and women who have served our country.
Below I have included two letters from the district; please read them and let us know if you have any questions regarding our upcoming presentations related to Erin's law and/or the upcoming CogAT tests.
