Benton Weekly Update
It's hard to believe there are just 3 weeks left of the school year! The last month and days of school are very busy and we have a lot packed into just a few days. And don't forget, next Monday is a holiday!
Catching up on last week's events, Benton recognized parent volunteers Kerwin Fujikami, Emilee Hidy, Heidi Ojeisekhoba, and John Szeplaky at the District's Day of the Parent. Thank you to them, and to all the individuals and families who support Benton and its students throughout the year!
Benton athletes participated in the NLM Middle Schools Track & Field competition at LMHS last week, and once again, Benton dominated the events and brought home the championship trophy. This has been an amazing year for Benton Athletics with 10 teams earning the championship title! The students and coaches are to be commended for their dedication and skill.
On Friday evening, we had a great turn out for the Kaleidoscope VAPA Festival. Thank you to all the student artists, performers, and teachers for putting on a great event to showcase the amazing talent of our students. A special thank you to Mr. Szeplaky for capturing the performances and displays on video, which you can view on the link below.
On Wednesday this week, our final concert will be at Biola at 6pm. See Mr. Gohn for more information and tickets.
On Thursday, 8th Graders will be going to Disneyland! Permission slips must be turned into the office by Monday afternoon. 8th Grade Parents, your help is needed for the 8th Grade Dance coming up 5/29, and our 8th Grade Lunch & Field Day 6/3. Have you completed the online registration for next year? This is separate from selecting classes and electives. All NLM students must complete the online registration each year. 6th Graders, do you have the TDAP vaccination? You must have that before starting 7th Grade. Parents can submit proof of vaccination to the Benton Office Manager, Terié at twohlford@nlmusd.org

Yearbook on Sale
You can now purchase the 25-26 Benton Yearbook in the school office (cash or check payable to ASB) or on our Webstore. The Yearbook is produced by Benton students and is delivered the last week of school. It's important to purchase your yearbook in advance, as we only print the number of books we sell in advance. Don't miss out, secure your yearbook now!
Wednesday is a B Day
8th Grade Disneyland Trip Thursday 5/21
For all 8th Graders attending the Disneyland trip, make sure you have turned in your permission slip to the office! The bus will leave Benton at 8:45am and will return to Benton approximately 8:30pm.
Memorial Day 5/25 No School
There will be no school on Monday, May 25 in observance of Memorial Day.
End of Year Awards 5/27
Our End of Year Awards Ceremony will be on Wednesday, 5/27 at 5:30pm on the back patio. Parents and guests may enter through the sliding gates in the parking lot. Students will be recognized for Principal's Honor Roll (GPA 4.0 & above), Honor Roll (GPA 3.5-3.99), Perfect Attendance all year, departmental awards, and the 8th Grade Valedictorian and Salutatorian. Honor Cords will be awarded to 8th Graders who have earned them. A list of award recipients will be posted in Schoology by Wednesday this week, and parents will be emailed Wednesday if their student is receiving an award.
