Planting Seeds of Knowledge in Kindergarten

In Kindergarten, we had a wonderful and enriching experience exploring the Life Cycle of a Plant. Students learned about the different parts of a plant and their specific functions, and were fascinated to observe how plants grow and change over time.

As part of our outdoor exploration, we studied Deciduous and Evergreen Trees around our school, identifying their unique characteristics through hands-on observation.

To bring our learning to life, we planted and measured our very own bean plants, allowing students to witness growth firsthand. We also discovered the vital role bees play in pollination and how they help flowers thrive.

We concluded our unit with a beloved read-aloud, Miss Rumphius, and celebrated spring by creating thumbprint lupine art to brighten our hallway with the beauty of nature.

No Track No Problem For Petersburg Vikings- Juneau Empire article and photo

by Klas Stolpe

A note from Assistant Track Coach- Tom Thompson

Coach Hofacre and I took the tracksters to the SE Music Fest Saturday (April 12th) night to watch the PHS choir and command performances by Ashley Eilenberger and Eleanor Kandoll. The athletes were enthusiastic about how terrific all the performances were and represented Petersburg well with their support. The choir was just outstanding and Chelsea really has them dialed in for skills and enthusiasm--it was so much fun to listen to and watch them. Ashley's performance of Vienna had the audience mesmerized and Eleanor's command performance on the clarinet was truly excellent as she showed that she is truly an extraordinary musician.

Much Ado About Nothing

Congratulations to the PHS Drama crew on a well-run production.

Why are students in drama holding planks during rehearsal?

This technique is not only entertaining to watch, but helps students learn to engage their diaphragms while simultaneously helping them grasp their lines by practicing under duress.
