Warrior Connection - February 1
February 1

Principal’s Note
January felt like it lasted forever, and suddenly here we are in February. With the Winter Olympics underway, it’s hard not to be inspired by watching some of the best athletes in the world demonstrate perseverance, discipline, and commitment. We’re excited to bring a little Olympic fun to West Minico through assemblies, friendly competitions, and learning about Olympic athletes—whose characteristics closely align with what it means to be a Warrior.
As we move through the semester, we are continuing to focus on helping students build strong academic habits, especially the importance of turning work in on time. Our goal is to eliminate zeros by supporting students in completing assignments when they are assigned. Students who have no zeros will earn a reward on February 12, with February 6 as the cutoff date to have all missing work completed. Please take a moment to check in with your student and ask if all assignments are turned in.
We are also excited to kick off Ski Club this Friday for students who are signed up. In addition, you may notice some acts of random kindness happening around our school this month as we continue to focus on building a positive, supportive culture. Thank you for partnering with us to support your student and all Warriors at West Minico.

Checkpoint #1 - No Zeros
To support students in staying caught up academically, West Minico is implementing Checkpoint #1: “No Zeros.” Students who have no missing assignments and no zeros in any class by Thursday, February 6 will earn a school reward on Thursday, February 12.
This incentive is designed to help students build strong habits early in the semester. It is not about perfect grades—it is about responsibility and completing assigned work. Students who do not meet the requirement will use the reward time to work on missing assignments with teacher support.
We appreciate your partnership in encouraging students to turn work in on time and check grades regularly.
Valentine's Day Guidelines
🌹💌 Valentine's Day Reminders for West Minico 💌🌹
Valentine’s Day is almost here! 🎉 To keep things fun, safe, and focused, here are a few things to know about deliveries and exchanges on February 12:
🚫 No Balloons: Balloons aren’t allowed at school. Deliveries with balloons will be turned away.
📦 Deliveries: Items delivered to school will be handed out at the end of the day to avoid classroom disruptions.
🚌 Glass Containers: No glass containers (like vases) are allowed on school buses.
🎁 Student Exchanges: If exchanged items cause a disruption, they’ll be held in the office until the end of the day.
Thanks for helping us keep the day running smoothly! We appreciate your support! ❤️💙 #ValentinesDay #WarriorStrong #WestMinico
Every Minute Counts at West Minico
At West Minico, we know that every school day counts. While an occasional absence may not seem like much, missing just two days a month quickly adds up and can impact learning, routines, and connections with teachers and classmates. Regular attendance helps students stay on track academically and feel confident and engaged at school. Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority and supporting your child in being present and ready to learn each day. Together, we can make every minute count.
