Hello Trailblazers!
9.18.26
Discovery Families,
The Discovery staff is excited to meet with you and your child to discuss this year’s progress!
Conferences will be held in person in your child’s classroom. Please bring your child with you to Parent-Teacher conferences. If you would like a Zoom conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher(s). The book fair will be set up in the Discovery library for those who want to stop by before or after your scheduled conference time.
To sign up: Please click the link that corresponds to your child’s teacher(s). If you have more than one child, fill out one survey for each child’s teacher. Please take note of your conference time and pencil it into your calendar. The time slots are 20-minute increments, yet our goal is to keep conferences within 15 minutes to allow for transition time.
The deadline to sign up for conferences is Friday, Sep. 25th at 3:00 p.m.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Ali Parkinson - Principal
Mrs. Jodi Dodson - Associate Principal

1st, 3rd and 5th Grade Vision and Hearing Screenings
This fall students in Kindergarten, 1st, 3rd, and 5th grade will have their vision screened using an automated and objective screening device called the Plusoptix. The Plusoptix has similar simplicity and speed to a digital camera. Both eyes are screened simultaneously in less than one second. Refraction, pupil sizes and corneal reflexes are measured and compared to age-based referral criteria automatically. If any abnormalities are determined the results will be sent home with the student. If you DO NOT want your child screened please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it to your child’s school.
We will also be completing hearing screenings for students in Kindergarten, 1st, and 5th Grade. The hearing screening consists of a brief test to examine your child’s ability to hear pure tones at different frequencies. If there is any concern about your child’s hearing, you will be notified of the recommendation. If you DO NOT want your child screened please fill out the bottom portion of this form and return it to your child’s school.
