Scholastic Book Fair

Join us for our Scholastic Book Fair Monday, November 29- Friday, December 3 at the Hale'iwa Elementary Library. Students will go with their class twice during the week to shop and add things to their wish list. Students can also attend during recess and after school. Parents are allowed to attend with students after school, but will need to show proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test only if they are staying more than 10 minutes.

This year, students can have money added to their accounts to pay at the book fair. Please make sure to sign up for the e-wallet.

My new role in Haleiwa is an EA for the FSC classroom, I am originally from Portland, Oregon but have been lucky to call the North Shore my home for the past 5 years. I worked at Haleiwa two years ago and I am so stoked to be back. Some of my favorite things to do is go to the beach with my friends, go diving in the summer, and catching as many sunsets as I can! I am grateful for the life that I live and forever grateful for everyone who is in it. My favorite song to dance to is any song with a good beat! 😊

Ms. Rachelle

We are excited to announce that Mrs. Rachelle Calaro has been hired as an Education Assistant to help in second grade this year. Let's get to know her:

I grew up in town. I’m the oldest of 4. Married to my husband for 8 years but we’ve been together for 18 years. I have 2 children. A son named Taylor that’s in the 9th grade and a daughter named Trinity in the 1st grade. I like spending time with my family and doing arts and crafts. I’m grateful for being able to work with our Haleiwa elementary school ʻohana.

Mahalo ʻOhana 100 Book Donations

We are grateful for ʻOhana 100 for donating books for our preschool, Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, and 3rd graders. Our students will receive the books in December so they can read during the holidays! It will be a nice surprise!

Kindergarten Garden Puppets Kindergarten Garden Puppets

by Ms. Brooks

Ms. Brooks and Ms. Mori’s class had another fun day of working in their garden. This time they made grass heads out of socks. First, they put in grass seed, then they put in the soil. Once they were done planting the seeds and soil in their socks, they decorated their sock head faces and even named them! They can’t wait to see the grass hair on their little buddies soon!

They will regularly go to the green house to water their heads and check to see how their “hair” is growing. They can’t wait to share their sock heads once the grass has grown!

Haleʻiwa Ohana Nights: The Gratitude Game Haleʻiwa Ohana Nights: The Gratitude Game

by Ms. Yonting

Aloha Hale'iwa Families,

We would like to introduce a new section of our Hale'iwa Newsletter that brings families and friends a little closer together through bonding activities. It will be called our "Hale'iwa Ohana Nights." We will provide the activity idea for our families to do on Friday or Saturday night to help create and keep memorable moments. This week we would like to celebrate Gratitude, which is a great activity to have during our Thanksgiving holiday.

The Gratitude Game can be played using skittles, m&m's, colored paper, crayons, anything that has different colors. Once you have that you can put it into a bag and have each person randomly pick a color out from the bag. The picked color that matches the colored circle on the "Gratitude Game" card is what that person will share aloud to the group that they are thankful for.

For example, if I pick out a yellow m&m I need to share "I am thankful for my home (a place)." The game can be played until you run out of skittles and or m&m's. We have a nice four day weekend, so let's have some fun with our Gratitude Game!
