October Newsletter
Welcome Fall...
📣 Families! Here's What's Happening in October.
Can you believe the first quarter of the school year wraps up on October 10? Time is flying!
The second quarter kicks off on Monday, October 13, but remember—this day is a Teacher Planning Day, so there will be no school for students.
Our students have truly settled into their routines and continue to thrive as we look forward to reaching our exciting destination—the opening of our new school building later this month!
🙌 Focusing on Student Engagement
🌟A huge thank-you to Mr. Girard, Mr. Lanier, Mrs. O’Brien, and Mr. Katuri for bringing learning to life in such creative ways! Their classrooms have been buzzing with energy and hands-on activities that keep students fully engaged and excited to learn.
✈️ Mr. Girard’s science students explored the fundamental principles of aerodynamics—including gravity, air resistance, and drag forces—by designing and building their own helicopters.
🌿 Mrs. O’Brien’s horticulture class combined science and art in a STEAM activity, creating layers of planting strata to illustrate how different levels support growth and design.
🧩 Mr. Katuri’s math class sharpened their problem-solving and communication skills through an interactive Think-Pair-Share activity, encouraging collaboration and critical thinking.
📚 Mr. Lanier’s psychology class continues to shine with dynamic, student-centered activities that spark curiosity and collaboration.
📸 Check out the photos of our students in action—exploring, experimenting, and showcasing their amazing work.
Your dedication and passion inspire our RPS community every day. Way to go, teachers—and kudos to the students for diving in with such enthusiasm!

Sunshine Committee
🌞 Spreading Sunshine to Our Teachers 🌞
Each month, the Sunshine Committee—made up of fellow faculty and staff—prepares something special for the teachers. The goal of the Sunshine Committee is simple: to create small moments of joy that bring our teachers together. This month’s treat was coffee and baked goods, and upcoming “sunshine events” will include sub sandwiches, a yogurt bar, and more surprises.
If you’d like to support the Sunshine Committee in continuing to spread sunshine, donations are warmly welcomed. Simply scan the QR code to contribute or click on this link. Every gift, big or small, helps us celebrate our teachers.
On behalf of the Sunshine Committee, thank you!

🎶 Students joined in traditional songs, explored cultural traditions, and participated in engaging activities that made the celebration both fun and educational.

Cybersecurity Awareness Session with Officer Nina Popovich
