Principal's Message

Greetings Springwater Students and Families,

What a great week of school spirit and creative costumes! Thank you to our leadership class who designed a great Spirit Week and to all the students who participated in each day's theme! We topped it off today with some great costumes.

As you know, we had our first school COVID exposure which has resulted in multiple students being quarantined, per state health requirements. This is a reminder to stay home if you are feeling sick; especially if you have a cough, fever, chills, shortness of breath/difficulty breathing, or loss of taste or smell. You only need to have one of these symptoms to stay home, as COVID can affect each person differently.

I have had several questions about Oregon's quarantine rules for students. Fully vaccinated students who are exposed to someone with COVID do NOT need to quarantine (and may continue to attend school) as long as they have no symptoms. Looking at this past week's exposure: if no students had been vaccinated in our school, the number of students who would have been quarantined would be 3x higher than it is right now. A significant number of students were able to continue attending school due to their vaccination status.

If you are quarantined, home sick, or miss school for any reason: please join us for our virtual academic support Monday - Thursday from 2:30pm - 3:30pm for help with your assignments and classes. This can be especially important if you are struggling in a class or have questions about a specific assignment.

Have fun and be safe this weekend!

Future Plans After High School: I want to be a Navy Seal. I want to do personal missions and not in big groups. It’s more of a dangerous job. Sounds fun.

Grade: 9

Interests: I do martial arts. I’m going to be a black belt this year. I’ve been going for four years now.

Favorite subject in school: Computer Apps

Favorite thing about STHS: I like that it’s smaller and that there’s less people, so it’s easier to learn.

AJ Zambrano

Future Plans After High School: To be honest, I’m not entirely sure. I want to go to community college. I want to study semi-close to home. Maybe I’ll study game design because that’s a field I’m really interested in.

Grade: 10

Interests: Video games, but not just video games. I really like the business around video games. I like catchy music and I think I might make music. I like coming up with stories. Every day I have a specific story going on in my head and I’m constantly thinking about “what if this happened…”.

Favorite subject in school: Creative writing because I am very imaginative and I like to write things down. It’s nice to have an outlet to create some of the stories.

Favorite thing about STHS: Everybody is relatively nice. Back in middle school, I heard about STHS at an assembly and thought I might as well sign up. It sounds like a cool thing to go to.

Brisa Alvarez

Future Plans After High School: I want to attend a 4-yr university. I want to become a dental hygienist, and then while I work on that, I want to go to law school.

Grade: 11

Interests: I like to play volleyball. I like to practice makeup looks. I like to paint, go on walks, and I love taking pictures of sunsets and sunrises.

Favorite subject in school: Math. It just makes sense. There’s always an answer to everything.

Favorite thing about STHS: I like how the teachers and staff help you a lot and want what’s best for you. I love how everyone here knows each other.

Students who participate in this fundraiser will be able to choose where they want the money they make to go: National Honor Society, Titan Hearts, or the Student Activity Fund (all Springwater based programs/activities). Titan Hearts Program

Hello from the Springwater Titan Hearts! This is a new group staff are starting here at Springwater in order to let our students and families know they are supported and cared about. We hosted our first New Student Titan Hearts lunch on Wednesday, October 13th, and we hope to continue this once a month, we had so much fun! New students and National Honor Society students were able to connect and chat while enjoying Jimmy Johns! We are also here for students experiencing life changes, whether positive or negative, with a reminder they are supported and cared for by our staff with a small card and gift. The Springwater Community is here for students and families and we hope we are able to continue to show our support.

Campus Lunch Policy

Compliments to our 9th graders! They have been doing a great job of remaining on campus during lunchtime. As a reminder: only 10th - 12th graders have off campus lunch privileges. 9th graders are expected to remain on campus during lunch. This is due to the limited food options close to our campus and to help create stronger community within the 9th grade class.

Students are being trained regarding how to access their class assignments and grades in CANVAS.

COVID-19 Testing Information

Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms while at school will have access to a COVID-19 test.

Following are some important details to know about the COVID-19 test:

  • The test is VOLUNTARY. Students must have a “COVID-19 Testing Consent Form” on-file before a test can be administered to a student. The form below must be fully completed and signed by a parent or guardian.
  • Testing is intended for students who are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
  • COVID-19 symptoms include fever of 100.4° F or higher, chills, cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing and new loss of taste or loss of smell.
  • Students are required to administer their own test by swabbing their own nose. A testing administrator will oversee the process and provide verbal instructions to the student.
  • Testing will be conducted in the school’s Care Room or a private space.
  • Students who exhibit COVID-19 symptoms on-site and are tested (whether positive or negative result) will be sent home. Further instructions will be provided at that time.
  • Students who develop COVID-19 symptoms while not at school may not get tested at the school. Testing is only available for students who are already on-site and are exhibiting COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Please use this information to decide what is best for your student. If you have more questions, contact our office at 503-261-4600
