Virtual Read Aloud Libraries
Click to listen to a story
It is so important for our kindergarten, first and second grade students to have stories read aloud to them. Listening to stories helps foster literacy development by practicing comprehension (understanding what they heard) and making connections to text. Hearing a story read aloud builds reading fluency and expression with silly voices that helps our students develop as readers. Read aloud opportunities help students think critically as they explore characters and the problem and solution in a plot, encourages their own creativity and imagination, and builds on their sustained focus and attention skills. There are so many benefits!
I also understand that life gets busy, so I created this virtual read aloud library resource to help. It is an opportunity to have your students productively listen and have the benefits of hearing a story being read aloud when maybe life is a little crazy and you just do not have as much time as you wish to read together.
Is your family busy making dinner or working, but your child has some time! Listening to a story helps build their listening comprehension and vocabulary.
Are you travelling in the car a long distance and need something positive and productive to engage your child with on a long road trip? Cue up these libraries and some headphones for tons of entertainment. Or play the book through your car, and then talk about it!
Is it a rainy day? Listening to a story is a great option if grown-up storytellers are busy and learning to read students may benefit from hearing a story.
Didn't have time to go to the library, and now are looking for a different bedtime story? Listen together!
Does your child have a favorite theme or author? Send Mrs. Beverly an email and she can work to add it!
