Good News and Info from the Paulding County School District!
A Message from Superintendent Barnette
Digital Learning Day Aug. 9th
As a reminder, Friday, August 9th, is a Digital Learning Day (DLD), which means that all PCSD students will learn remotely. DLD within the first 10 days of school is essential for several reasons. The first digital learning day is an unofficial emergency response drill to prepare for digital instruction during long- or short-term school closings. Canvas is the district's online learning management system and ensuring that students and families are familiar with login procedures and basic navigation is critical. A robust collection of videos is available to help students and parents learn to navigate Canvas and other essential resources. Additionally, before the school year starts, bus routing and student schedules are projected for enrollment and growth. However, changes to bus routes, master schedules, and teacher assignments often become necessary once students are on campus and actual student enrollment and bus ridership are determined. DLD within the first 10 days of school supports school and district operations and adjustments, minimizing the need for disruptions later in the semester.
The mission of the Paulding County School District is to "prepare ALL students for success today AND tomorrow." K-12 Advanced and Innovative Instruction and increasing student access to technology are strategic areas of focus for the district. PCSD's one-to-one (1:1) device initiative, STEM programming, and College, Career, and Life Readiness (CCLR) further support our students' personalized learning and digitally enhanced instructional opportunities. We are committed to your child's current and future success and appreciate your support for a solid start to the school year.
As we approach the Digital Learning Day, please make appropriate arrangements for your students. More information about Digital Learning Days can be found here: https://www.paulding.k12.ga.us/Page/42513.
Create a Parent Portal Account
All families must create a Parent Portal account in order to access the Infinite Campus student information system which allows you to view your student's grades, attendance, and more. Infinite Campus also maintains contact information, so it is crucial that you ensure your phone number, email address, and home address are up to date so that your school and/or the district can contact you in the event of an emergency.
Instructions on creating a Parent Portal account are attached. Once you have created a Parent Portal account, or if you already have one, parents will need to log into Infinite Campus and sign the form acknowledging receipt of the Parent/Student Information Guide for the 2024-2025 school year. The district’s Parent-Student Information Guide contains important information about school policies and procedures. Each household is required to acknowledge receipt of this guide, and we encourage every parent to read it carefully and share key information with their students, especially as it relates to the Student Code of Conduct.
Parent/Student Information Guide Sign-Off
A parent or guardian from each PCSD household is required to read the Parent/Student Information Guide and sign an acknowledgment that the document has been read. Parents/guardians can sign the acknowledgment electronically through the Parent Portal. This information will be activated by the afternoon of Tuesday, July 30. Instructions are linked below.
Transportation
Parents, click the photo above for an overview of how bus transportation operates for Paulding County schools. As always, we ask that you please be patient with our bus drivers and Transportation staff during the first few weeks of the school year. In many cases drivers are learning new routes, and traffic throughout Paulding County will increase significantly when school opens, which means that in some cases buses may run behind schedule. It often takes a couple of weeks for routes to normalize, so we appreciate your patience during this time. Fortunately, there is a way to track your child's bus in real time. Download the Here Comes the Bus app to your Google/Android or iPhone. Instructions are below.
PCSD Safety Conversation Available Online
Last year, the school district recorded safety presentation hosted by Michael Ruple, the school district's Executive Director of Safety. You can still watch a replay on the school district's Safety & Security website. Just click the photo above, or go to: www.paulding.k12.ga.us/safety
