The Weekly Hoot
April 10, 2026
It has been such a lovely few days here; we have had both snow and 70-degree weather. It truly feels like the best of both worlds!
We had children's book author Stevie Peters visit us today. She read her book, titled Surviving Saturday, to the students. The students really liked the book and thoroughly enjoyed the activity she had planned for them. Be sure to ask your kids about her visit and what they learned.
As a reminder, our last week of Friday activities for our One School, One Book program, will take place on Friday, April 17th. We have updated the activities, so please scroll down to take a look at the updated schedule. Also, please mark your calendars for Wednesday, April 22nd, from 5:00 to 6:30 pm, which will be our evening celebration! We are really looking forward to celebrating this wonderful book and all of the activities it has provided for us and the community.
I hope you have a great weekend.

It is perfectly okay to let our kids fail sometimes. Whether they are losing a board game, falling down on the playground, or struggling with a tough homework assignment, these moments are actually very important.
When children have to work through challenges in games, activities, friendships, or learning, it makes them stronger. These situations give them a chance to grow and figure things out on their own. As parents, we are there to provide guidance and support, but we do not always need to swoop in to solve or "fix" everything for them.
Learning how to handle a loss or a struggle now helps them build the skills they will need later in life. By giving them the space to hit those bumps in the road, we are helping them realize they can get back up and try again.
