DRRHS Falcon Flash
January 30th, 2026
A Message from Mr. Demers
Dear DRRHS Families,
Though it was a short week due to the snow storm, there was still plenty happening on 2700 Regional Road. Here are a few of the happenings:
Upperclassmen contestants are still needed for the annual Valentine's Day Variety Show. Rehearsals have begun, but contestants can still sign up. Those interested should reach out to Ms. Beckett. The Valentine's Day Variety Show is a great opportunity to build school spirit and we encourage all students to attend.
Winter sports continue to find success as we approach the midway point of the season. Tonight our boys' basketball team will hold their senior night before playing Somerset-Berkley High School. We hope everyone can find some time to come by the gym and root on the Falcons.
Congratulations to all of our first year Career and Technical Education students who completed their exploratory rotations and were placed in their CTE program this past Wednesday. These students will work through the next three and a half years to become industry certified in their given CTE program. We are proud to be a comprehensive high school that offers amazing pathways academically and in CTE.
Snow and a few days off did not slow down the Falcons. Fingers crossed we can get a full week of learning, activities, and athletics in this coming week!
With Falcon Pride,
Dustin Demers - Principal DRRHS
Important Bus Safety Messages
In the morning during drop off please do not drive around buses that are parked outside of the high school entrance in the circle. Cars must wait to drop off in front of the school until all of the busses that are parked there have pulled away. Students can be dropped off alongside the school in the parking lot with the solar panels.
Also a reminder for all members of the Dighton-Rehoboth community of the critical importance of stopping for school buses.
Last week, a family reported a serious safety concern in which a vehicle illegally passed a stopped school bus while a student was actively boarding. The bus’s red lights were flashing and the stop-arm was extended, and the student was in the stairwell at the time of the incident. Fortunately, no one was injured, but this situation highlights a very real and dangerous risk for our students.
Passing a stopped school bus is not only illegal, it puts children in immediate danger. Students boarding and exiting buses are among the most vulnerable pedestrians on our roadways, and they rely on all drivers to follow the law and exercise caution.
We ask all drivers, parents, guardians, students, and community members, to:
Stop completely when a school bus has its red lights flashing and stop-arm extended, regardless of direction of travel (unless on a divided highway with a physical median).
Be alert in school zones and residential areas, especially during morning and afternoon bus routes.
Model safe and responsible driving behavior for our students.
Ensuring the safety of our children is a shared responsibility. We appreciate your partnership in helping keep every student safe on their way to and from school. Thank you for keeping our community safe.

Phone/Earbud/Headphone Usage DRRHS
District Electronic Device Policy
The term “electronic devices,” includes but is not limited to cell phones, iPads/tablets, laptops/computers (other than those issued by the District), electronic/smart devices, and headphones/airpods. The expectation is that these personal devices remain off and away during the school day. Staff may require students to store phones in a centralized location. The only exception is at the high school, where students are permitted to use their phones during transition time in the hallway between classes and during lunch. High school students are not allowed to use their phones during class time, or when out of the classroom during class time (i.e., bathroom breaks). Students remain solely responsible for any loss or damage to any electronic devices used or brought onto school property. Use of electronic devices at school are subject to the District’s Acceptable Use Policy and any applicable laws and regulations, including but not limited to M.G.L. c. 272, sec. 99, which is sometimes known as the Massachusetts Wiretapping Law.

School Hours
7:00 - Doors open (breakfast available)
7:17 - First Period Begins
1:51 - Dismissal
Attendance
A reminder that a student will be assigned Saturday School if they accrue 5 attendance points in a quarter.
- An unexcused absence (one not accompanied by a valid medical note) equals one attendance point.
- An unexcused tardy/dismissal equals an attendance half point.
A student's exemplary academic standing or disciplinary record have no bearing on the assignment of a Saturday School in the case of five or more attendance points being accrued over the course of one quarter of the school year.
First period begins at 7:17AM. Any student not in their classroom at 7:17 or later will be considered tardy for that day.
Chromebooks
All Chromebooks should be charged and ready for each school day. Outside devices are not permitted, only school issued Chromebooks can be used at DRRHS during the school day.
The school has a limited number of loaner chromebooks and priority is to those students whose chromebooks are being fixed. Please remember that students should be bringing in fully charged chromebooks to school every day with charging cords.
Student Parking
If a Senior or Junior is planning on parking at school, they can purchase a sticker in the office. The cost to park at school is $60 for the year. At the start of Semester 2, parking will be $30 for the balance of the year. Parking forms are available in the office. Please be aware that students will not be able to go out to their cars during the school day. They must remember to have everything with them when they enter the building in the morning.
Faculty Parking Lot
Please make sure you do not cut through the Faculty Parking Lot before or after school. The Faculty Parking Lot should not be used as a shortcut for safety reasons. Thank you!

CTE Corner
CTE Exploratory Assembly
On Wednesday we celebrated our Freshmen Exploratory students. Since September they have gone through 7 CTE shops for 3-5 days in each shop. From there, they narrowed their interest down to their top 4 shop choices. While exploring those shops for 11-12 days each they learned a lot more which helped them pick their favorite shop to study and learn in for the next 3.5 years. They tried their hardest in every shop to secure their spot in some of the most challenging popular shops. We celebrated them with a slide show & Certificates to show how proud we are of them and we can't wait to see what their future brings. Best of luck to the Class of 2029

Seniors who have been accepted to college, please let Mrs. Shillan in guidance know. She will post it in on the window in guidance and have it announced during morning announcements if you choose.
STARS Report: Just a reminder for students to check your emails after you apply to college. There are 38 colleges across the nation that accept/require students to fill out The Self-reported Transcript and Academic Record System (STARS). For example, The University of Rhode Island and The University of Connecticut require this. The University of Massachusetts Amherst and The University of New Hampshire accept it and encourage it but do not require it. You will need your transcript of courses to fill this out.
