Hello Bulldog Families.

On Tuesday, I had the chance to attend the AimHire Conference where workforce, higher education and K-12 education met to collaborate on how all parties can work together to make sure our Ohio students are ready for the workforce when they are finished with whatever educational pathway they choose to pursue. There were several good discussions, but a statement from the President for The Ohio State University, Ravi Bellamkonda, resonated with me throughout the day. When asked about the most important tidbit we can give to high school students he replied, “How you do where you are means more than where you are”.

Some high school students think they have to over commit and be in everything and take every class in an attempt to look good for a college. Other high school students are just trying to figure out where their next class is located! One thing ALL high school students have in common is the ability to make the best of their “how” experience!

When a student is too tired and overwhelmed to give full attention to everything, they need to reevaluate their priorities and focus on doing well with just a few.

When a student is not engaged and disconnected at school, they need to think about “how” to change their mindset to reengage in a meaningful way.

High school students only have four short years to take care of all of the requirements for graduation and to think about what comes next for them in a world that is continually changing and adjusting. The staff here at Batavia High School is really good at helping students with this journey, but they have to first understand that they have to show up with their “how” they want to do high school already framed in their thinking. Families, thank you for helping us help your high school students as they navigate this journey.

We are quickly moving into our first full week of October with Parent Teacher Conferences scheduled for October 8th. Please refer to the link below to select a conference time with your student’s teachers. As a reminder, the end of our first quarter wraps up on October 15th.

We hope you all have a great weekend, and we will welcome your students back on Monday!

In service to our Bulldogs.

Hi, Bulldog Families.

We are quickly approaching the end of the 1st quarter! We are having conversations with students stressing how important first quarter grades are to start the year on track to earn credits. We also have many winter extra curricular activities that students must be eligible for in order to participate. Please take a moment to check in with your kids to make sure they are putting in the work and finishing this 1st quarter successfully.

Go Bulldogs!

Hello, Families.

The following information below was sent to all students this past Wednesday.

The administration and athletic department would like to remind you of some expectations, as we are heading into our last home football game for this season, on Friday, October 2nd vs. W. Brown.

High school students are expected to be in the student section during the game. Students are not permitted to hang out near the front entrance, concession stand, and/or bathrooms for extended amounts of time.

High school students are not permitted to walk into the middle school area, or walk to the visitor side of Holman Stadium.

If students leave and walk out of Holman Stadium at any point during the game, they will not be allowed to re-enter the game.

Students that have excessive tardies must serve their Friday school from 2:15pm - 3:15pm before attending after school events.

Thank you,

Joe Moorehead, Dean of Students

"The NHS Chapter of Distinction Award celebrates chapters that truly embody what the National Honor Society stands for—students who don't just excel academically but actively strengthen their communities," said NPA CEO Ronn Nozoe. "The Batavia High School chapter demonstrates how powerful it can be when young leaders channel their talents toward meaningful service and positive change." The NHS Chapters of Distinction is a national recognition program created by NHS to honor chapters that demonstrate strong leadership, sound operations and a deep commitment to the pillars of the Honor Society. This distinction recognizes chapters that meet all Essential Standards and excel in key areas such as student governance and leadership development. Congratulations to Advisor Jennifer McElveen and the NHS students from the 2025-2026 and the 2026-2027 school years!

The FAFSA Application opened October 1!!!!

The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) for students entering or attending college for the 2027-28 academic year is up and running! Any student that is thinking about attending any type of education/training after high school should complete the FAFSA - technical school, trade school, community college, public university, or private university. The FAFSA is what determines your eligibility for student loans, grants, work-study, and scholarships - thus, it is VERY important that you complete and submit it. Keep in mind, all students are eligible for student loans! We will continue to share information and helpful resources with you and your family as we receive it!
The Ohio Department of Higher Education would like to share that the 2027-28 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available for all families to complete. Families who want to start filling out the FAFSA now can start the process at studentaid.gov.
