Act 20 of 2026- Health Screenings
The Pennsylvania Department of Education recently enacted Act 20 of 2026. Act 20 of 2026 expands the School Code’s student health provisions, including new requirements concerning body mass index (BMI) communication, reporting, and instructional practices, as well as eating disorder awareness and education. A component of the revision requires school districts to provide families with the opportunity to request an exemption for their child from body mass index (BMI) measurements.
Over the next month, your child will participate in health screenings. The health screening will include height and weight measurements conducted by Mrs. Speraw, the school nurse. If you request that your child be exempt from the health screening, please email Mrs. Speraw at asperaw@acschools.org. This will be considered your formal written request to exempt your child from the height and weight screening. Please reach out to your child's nurse if you have any questions.
