Jan 21: Berkeley Heights School Update from Principal Pence
Dear Caregivers & Students,
As your interim principal, I take the safety and welfare of the Berkeley Heights Elementary School students and staff as my top priority. I would like to update you on a recent allegation that occurred at the end of last week.
There was an allegation made involving a staff member that puts mandatory reporting into action as well as notification of local authorities. While the allegation is investigated the employee is on administrative leave. As part of this standard process, and as mandated reporters, these allegations must be investigated by Department of Health & Human Resources and the Martinsburg City Police.
Once an investigation of these allegations has been completed, additional actions may be taken, if necessary. At this time, I want to caution all of us not to draw any conclusions on the matter until it is fully investigated. Please know the safety of our students, staff and families will continue to be my number one priority and that I will keep you informed when information can be shared.
As always, I would encourage you to speak directly with me when you have a concern. I strongly believe together we can address your concern in a timely and proactive manner.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.
