Superintendent's Letter
August 20, 2020
Thursday, August 20, 2020 Update
Dear Students, Parents, Staff, and the Lebanon Community,
Thank you for completing the reopening survey. Based on the results we have continued our planning for the A/B model, fully remote, or homeschool/other option that you have chosen for your children to participate in this fall. This process has taken longer than expected as we have been following up with phone calls to many parents to clarify their responses and/or receive their responses.
Tomorrow, Friday, families will receive an email from each School Principal notifying them which group, A or B, their children are in and confirming the students who will participate in 100% fully remote learning or homeschool/other option.
Paula Harthan, our Transportation Coordinator, is reviewing the data regarding students' transportation needs, checking the information against the students in Group A and B, and developing a new bus schedule. The new bus schedule will be sent to families on Tuesday. As of today, we plan to move forward with a daily school start and end time schedule that is similar to last year.
The Planning Team has put together a document that provides detailed information for the A/B and Fully Remote model. Examples of schedules and what a day might look like are included to give a sense of learning expectations and activities. Teachers will individually develop in-person and remote activities that are grade-level and student-specific. There is very important information in the document regarding taking temperatures and health screenings; school schedules; drop off and pick up; and the type of masks staff and students are allowed to wear so please take a few moments to review the document.
Thank you to all the members of the Planning Team for your hard work and efforts!
During the first few weeks of school, our focus will be on learning new routines and norms and building relationships. We will be providing an iPad or Chromebook based on grade level to each student, so we will also be spending time learning about the new devices and platforms.
We understand that we will need to be patient, flexible, and open-minded as we continue to navigate through these unchartered waters. Thank you for your continued support.
Dr. Joanne Roberts

Upper Valley Strong
Upper Valley Strong is a group of organizations who come together in times of emergency to help our communities.
Under the UV Strong umbrella, over 20 agencies and community representatives work together to respond to urgent needs in our region. The organization was first launched in 2011 in response to Hurricane Irene. In March 2020 UV Strong was reactivated to respond to the COVID-19 pandemic.
UV Strong’s purpose is to connect people in need to services, coordinate resources, and share expertise. In response to COVID-19, UV Strong is focused on issues including child care, housing, support for seniors, food access, and transportation.
We are your neighbors helping neighbors. At our core, we support agencies you already know, such as the Upper Valley Haven, LISTEN, and many more. We know that by working together, we will achieve more than we ever could alone.
