Ridge Relay-July Edition
Soaring to Success! 7/22/2020
Message from the Principal
Hello Eagle Families!
We hope everyone is healthy and finding time to relax a bit during this atypical summer break. We know there has been a lot of information going out from the district, TEA, the governor, local ordinances, etc. and we want to touch-base with our Eagle famiiles and provide you with some CRMS information. Unfortunately, this is a complicated, dynamic, and fluid situation, so if you don’t already, I suggest you periodically monitor the district website and board meetings to review presentations and watch the community webinars (next ones are today, 7/22 at 3:30 and 5:00) on this issue during the summer. I've included some of the most current information below for your reference.
Also, please note that the CRMS office team is back this week and will be responding to your emails as quickly as possible. Due to construction, efforts to keep the building clean and following guidelines, we will only be allowing visitors to come into the campus building with a pre-scheduled appointment. Please email the counselor/registrar about registration and scheduling or your grade-level AP if you have any other needs. You can also call the CRMS main line number 512-570-3500 for assistance.
We know that we will be starting school on August 13th through 100% Virtual Empowered Learning until Sept 7th. And like you, we are all anxious to know more about school in September and beyond. We continue to move forward with safety plans and to follow state guidance, TEA requirement updates, etc. I will send you more updates as more plans are finalized.
We hope you are continuing to have a restful and safe summer break!

Boys Choir selected for TMEA honor
The Canyon Ridge Middle School Varsity Boys Choir has been invited to perform at the 2021 Texas Music Educators Association’s annual convention. They were selected through a blind, competitive submission process. This is one of the state’s highest honors in choral music. This will be the second TMEA appearance for the choral program. In 2017, the CRMS Varsity Girls Choir was invited to perform. Congratulations to these young men!
ALL students Required to complete Returning Student Registration Verification process...
Parents, please make sure you have logged in to the HAC and "registered' your student, so your student's information is up-to-date. It is required that all students have completed Returning Student Registration process. The "Guardian 1" contact for each student should have received an email last week with instructions on how to complete this task.
How do I get started?
Log onto Home Access Center.
Click on the Registration Icon
Click on the Update Enrollment Tab

Using the Chrome browser provides the best experience.
- Do I have to answer all the questions?
- What if I make a mistake?
- I’ve completed the form, now what?
- What if I have more than one student at Leander Independent School District?
- I don’t know what a question is asking.
- Help! I’m having technical difficulties.
What will the return to school in August look like?
What we know right now:
- 100% of school (Aug 13-Sept 7) will be offered through Virtual Empowered Learning (Webinar today, 7/22 at 3:30 with more information)
- Parents will soon be sent a selection form to indicate if they would do 100% in-person or 100% virtual once we are able to open campus. This is to assist us in preliminary planning and scheduling students; however, the final selection process for in-person or virtual learning will be pushed out to parents closer to when buildings actually open (hopefully 9/8) to ensure we have updated & accurate student choice information.
What is still pending:
- When will we start in-person instruction on campus is TBD. TEA put out another update on 7/17 that gives districts a little more flexibility. District will have to determine next steps as we get closer to the Sept 8th date.
For up-to-date information please continue to refer to the Leander ISD COVID-19 website.
2020-2021 mLISD participation
Students with devices currently checked out will keep their devices and bring them to their campuses once on-campus instruction continues for the 2020-2021 school year. Students moving to a new LISD campus will also take their device with them.
LISD understands that families may not be able to pay the mLISD fee at this time. As stated above, students who have not paid for the upcoming school year will still keep their devices over the summer until they return to campus. Families can choose to participate at any time between now and then to ensure that their student(s) will have a 1:1 device once on-campus instruction continues.
Price: $70 for entire year or $35 for students receiving free or reduced lunch.
Visit the mLISD website for additional information.
Are you moving this summer?
Moving but remaining at Canyon Ridge Middle School/VHS
If your current 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student will not be returning to an LISD school for the 2020-2021 school year, please email our registrar, Nicole Chartier, at nicole.chartier@leanderisd.org for help in this process. Please include where your student will be attending school for the upcoming school year.
