Mill Valley Weekly
Thursday, June 4th, 2026
Hello Mill Valley Families,
With tomorrow's weather being questionable, we are going to move our Field Day and Planting Day to our RAIN DATE, Monday, June 8th.
We are anticipating a great day for planting our garden and having fun at the Field Day events! This is one of our favorite days of the year!
This year, we will be planting peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, cabbage, potatoes, onions, zucchini, cucumbers, cantaloupe and pumpkins! HERE is a map of the gardens and some planting instructions that will be shared with our volunteers.
Here are a few reminders...
- send your student in active clothes and tennis shoes
- bring a change of clothes (and socks) as there is a water station in the Field Day events
- apply sunscreen before arriving in school
- bring a water bottle

Classroom Goals for May
Each month, every classroom sets its own behavior goal to work toward together. These goals might include things like: walking quietly and respectfully in the hallways or making good choices about who we sit with during learning and work time.
At the end of the month, classrooms that meet their goal get to participate in a Minute-To-Win-It game during our Golden Awards assembly. Take a look at the fun below!

A Bitter-Sweet Farewell to Ms. Stollberg
After 13 years of commitment to Mill Valley Elementary, Ms. Stollberg will be transitioning to a new role as the Administrative Assistant at Bay Lane Elementary, beginning in the 2026-27 school year. This move is to fill a vacancy created by a retirement, as the district navigates changes due to decreased enrollment.
Ms Stollberg’s love for students, families, and staff was evident on a daily basis and we are grateful for the positive impact she has had on our Mill Valley Family. We wish her the very best in her new chapter at Bay Lane!
Yearbooks will be distributed tomorrow, Friday June 5th!
Congrats to the artists who contributed to the yearbook!

Mrs. Patchel's 1st Graders Passion Project 2026
Mrs. Patchel’s first grade students care about shelter animals. We are researching shelter animals and look forward to teaching the other kids at Mill Valley about these animals. We learned that some animals stay in shelters for a long time and need something to play with while they wait for their forever home.
We are looking for donations of cat and dog toys for shelter animals. Please bring cat and dog toys and place them in the bins by Mrs. Patchel’s classroom for the Wisconsin Humane Society. We are collecting items from May 25-June 5.
Thank you for supporting our cause and Mrs. Patchel’s first grade class!
If your student has a different dismissal plan on the last day of school due to early release,
PLEASE send a yellow note to school.
If you are planning on doing Parent Pick-Up and need a reminder of our pick-up process,
below is a map to help you out.
PLEASE stay parked in the lot until the bell rings at 12:40pm.

PBIS May Student Summary
Mill Valley students continue to work hard to demonstrate their respect, their responsibility, and their kindness. At the end of each month, behavior referral (majors and minors) graphs are shared with the staff and students. We wanted to share data trends with you, as well. When teachers share the graphs with their students, they facilitate important conversations about behavior in regard to trends, noticings, and potential actions to decrease the number of behavior referrals each month.
Below are some noticings and patterns from our staff and students for May:
Kindergarten and Second grade significantly improved their behavior from the previous month.
Referrals most often happened in the classroom followed by the cafeteria.
Most of the majors and minors were reported as disrespectful behavior or disruption.
Referrals happen least often while walking in our hallways, in the bathrooms or during specials.
Teachers and support staff have been having conferences, using “think sheets” and implementing restorative practices to help students build their skills to resolve conflicts with peers during their recess or free time.
In addition, our students have earned 1,952 Paw Prints in the month of May! As a reminder, students earn Paw Prints for being caught being respectful, responsible, or kind.
