A Message from the Principal
We are back at it for the second semester! In Advisory, students spent time completing a goal-setting activity to reflect on first semester and set goals for the rest of the year. Their Advisory teachers will be scanning and sending those sheets to you if you have not already received them.
This is a great opportunity to have a conversation with your student about their goals and to talk together about how you can support them in reaching those goals.
At this point, there will be no more schedule changes for the semester. If your child did not receive a class they were hoping for, please encourage them to talk with me. I will keep a record of their interest so we can try to get them into that class next year.
Unfortunately, with how the master schedule is built, it is not always possible to place every student in every class they request — but we truly do our best to accommodate student preferences whenever we can.
Here to Help- Supporting student Success with Ms. Andrews
Healthy Habits We have had a wonderful first week back! As we adjust back into the swing of things, I want to highlight one habit that makes a big difference in students’ success at school: getting enough sleep. Middle Schoolers need about 8-10 hours of sleep per night to stay focused, manage emotions, and do their best learning. When students stay up late playing video games or using screens, it often leads to tired mornings, difficulty concentrating in class, and increased stress during the day. I encourage families to support healthy routines at home by: Setting a consistent bedtime Powering down screens and video games at least 30–60 minutes before bed or leaving devices outside of the bedroom at night Creating a calm, tech-free sleep environment These small changes can have a big impact on students’ mood, behavior, and academic success. Thank you for partnering with us to help our students feel rested, ready, and set up for success each day! Enhancing Your Future Event – STEM Day Opportunity for Middle Schoolers We’re excited to share an opportunity for students in grades 6–8 to attend the Enhancing Your Future Event (EYF) on March 7, 2026 at Emporia State University.
