Back to School, Back to Priorities Back to School, Back to Priorities

As August arrives, life seems to hit the accelerator. Summer schedules are packed with vacations, camps, and family activities, and before we know it, we're shopping for school supplies, juggling sports schedules, and settling back into routines. In our house, it's an especially meaningful season. My oldest is applying to veterinary school, and my youngest is beginning her senior year of high school (pictured to the right). It's a reminder of just how quickly life moves and why there never seems to be a "perfect" time to make a big change.

When I started my business, it was just two months before my oldest left for college. More than one person thought I was crazy, but I knew that if I waited for life to slow down, I might never begin. There will always be another busy season, work deadline, kids' activity, home project, or holiday around the corner. Those things are real, but they can also become excuses that keep us from pursuing what's truly important. Life doesn't get less busy. We simply decide what's important enough to make time for. As we head into the final five months of the year, take a moment to ask yourself: What have I accomplished this year, and what am I still waiting to begin?

All my best!

Chances are you know someone who is feeling stuck, burned out, facing a layoff, or wondering if there's something more beyond traditional employment. They may not need another job lead. They may just need someone to help them explore what's possible.

A simple introduction could be the conversation that changes the direction of their career and their life.

Made 4 More Mondays – Did You Miss It? Made 4 More Mondays – Did You Miss It?

This month, one of my weekly Made 4 More Mondays messages explored the difference between perception and reality.

Using the 2026 FIFA World Cup as an example, it highlighted how many visitors arrived with concerns about safety and expectations shaped by what they had heard. Instead, they discovered welcoming communities, incredible food, diverse cultures, cold air conditioning, free drink refills, and genuine hospitality that completely changed their perspective. It serves as a reminder that we often do the same thing with business ownership, allowing assumptions and other people's opinions to limit opportunities we've never actually explored.

Every Monday, I share a short Made 4 More message designed to challenge the way we think about our careers, wealth, and what's possible. If you missed this one, you can catch it, along with previous messages, on my YouTube channel. After all, you were made for more.

Revenge Quitting vs. Strategic Exiting Revenge Quitting vs. Strategic Exiting

Have you ever imagined the dramatic exit? Walking into your boss's office, saying exactly what's on your mind, and leaving for good? For many professionals, that feeling doesn't come from one bad day. It builds over months or years of feeling overlooked, passed over for promotions, working long hours without recognition, watching someone else take credit for your ideas, dealing with poor leadership, or wondering if your contributions even matter.

That growing frustration has led to a new workplace trend called "revenge quitting," where employees resign to make a statement. While the emotions behind it are understandable, leaving without a plan rarely creates the future people are actually looking for. The frustration may disappear, but the uncertainty often takes its place. In today's job market, finding the right next opportunity can take longer than expected, and jumping into another role without a clear direction often means trading one frustrating situation for another.

That's why so many people feel stuck. Some quit impulsively, while others stay in jobs they no longer enjoy because they're afraid of what comes next. Both decisions are driven by the same problem: feeling like there isn't another option.

A better approach is strategic exiting. Instead of letting emotions dictate your next move, use them as motivation to create a plan. Explore new career paths, build additional income streams, or learn about business ownership before making a change. Career ownership isn't about quitting your job tomorrow. It's about creating choices so that when the time comes to make a change, you're doing it from a position of confidence and strength, not frustration. When you have options, you're no longer reacting to your circumstances. You're designing your future.

August Quote:

"Remember that you are always exactly where you need to be, experiencing what you need to experience so that you can learn what you must learn in order to become the person you need to be to create everything you want for your life." ~Hal Elrod
