Academy Avenue Elementary School

Dear Academy Families and Friends,

It's been a great first full week of school. We had a visit from the Weymouth Fire Department, got the buses straight, and welcomed our Kinders into the Academy family. Needless to say, it was a great week. On Monday, we have our Open House where we welcome all of our students and families to come and see the school and staff.

Chromebooks are an important tool for our students. Please be sure to take great care of them. Students need to make sure they are being charged nightly for the next day of school. Students use clever accounts/QR codes to log into their devices and can access programs like Lexia and ST Math to enhance their skills.

Thank you for being good neighbors during the arrival and dismissal times. I highly recommend using the Top Lot parking, as it's quick and easy, but if you choose to park on our neighboring streets, please make sure to observe the posted parking signs.

Here are a few things to think/know about for the upcoming start of school:

• The Grandparent Raising Grandchildren event is on Monday, September 15. See the flyer below for more details.
• Musical Instrument Donations: If you have a musical instrument you no longer need, please consider donating it to our Grade 5 music program! Please email jean.gilbert@weymouthps.org for more information.
• Please make sure students are on time each day. Our Staff is not on duty until 8:50. If students arrive before that time, they will need to be accompanied by an adult.
• This sunday is the Dining for Dollars at Jake and Joe's in Braintree.

Fun Run is back!

For new parents: Fun Run is the major fundraiser of the school year. Every child participates regardless of fundraising efforts! More information will be coming in September, but please register ASAP for a shirt!
