Remembrance Prayer
O God of Love, We thank you for what you have given us to enjoy;
For healthy minds and bodies, for love, for family, for friendship;
For every gift of happiness.
We praise you for those who help us by their example and encouragement;
Especially those who have given their lives to the cause
of justice and freedom.
Help us, for whom their efforts were given, to make their sacrifice
worthwhile by the way we live our lives in loving others.
May we always strive to follow your example and work
towards creating a peaceful world.
Help us have peace through full reconciliation and cooperation with
God's will for us and all those with whom we live.
We ask this in Jesus' name,
Amen.
Administrator's Message
As we enter November, we take time to reflect on the many blessings in our school community and to give thanks for the gifts of faith, family, and friendship. Over the past month, our students have demonstrated kindness, empathy, and a strong commitment to learning both inside and outside the classroom. It has been wonderful to see our students living out our Catholic values through their daily actions and interactions.
Our students continue to thrive academically, socially, and spiritually. They have settled into their routines, and Progress Reports will soon be sent home. We are incredibly proud of our student athletes who represented St. Veronica so well at the Cross-Country Meet and on both our Girls’ and Boys’ Junior Volleyball Teams. Their dedication, teamwork, and sportsmanship were inspiring. Halloween was another highlight, with vibrant school spirit on full display throughout our Spirit Week celebrations. Thank you to our Catholic School Council and all parent volunteers for helping make it such a fun and memorable experience for our students.
As we enter November, we are reminded of the importance of remembrance. We reflect on the significance of All Saints’ Day, All Souls’ Day, and Remembrance Day, moments that call us to honour those who have gone before us and to celebrate the strength of our faith. Through prayer, reflection, and participation in our school liturgies and Remembrance Day activities, students will have opportunities to deepen their understanding of gratitude, sacrifice, hope, and peace.
This month, we focus on the virtue of Conscience. We are called to do what is right, guided by prayer, reflection, and the teachings of Jesus. We encourage our students to have the courage to stand up for the values they are taught at home and at school, to make thoughtful choices, and to be peacemakers in their classrooms, on the playground, and within the community.
As the weather becomes colder, please ensure that students are dressed appropriately for outdoor recess and learning opportunities. We also remind families of the importance of regular attendance and punctuality in supporting student success and well-being.
Thank you to our Catholic School Council, parent volunteers, staff, and parish community for your ongoing partnership and support. Together, we continue to build a welcoming, inclusive, and faith-filled school where every child is known, valued, and loved.
May God bless you and your families throughout this month, and may we continue to be guided by faith, hope, and love in all that we do.
Take care.

Technology Use Reminder
As we continue to support a safe and respectful learning environment, we ask families to speak with their children about the appropriate use of technology at school.
Students are reminded that school technology is provided to support learning and should not be used to take photos or videos of students, staff, or school activities without permission. Families are also encouraged to discuss the importance of responsible digital citizenship, including not using the school name, logo, or school-related images on personal social media accounts such as TikTok or other platforms.
A reminder that student cell phones must remain off or silenced and out of sight during the school day unless explicitly permitted by a staff member for educational purposes or required for documented medical needs.
Thank you for partnering with us to promote respectful, safe, and responsible technology use both at school and online.

Galatians 5:22
Our Virtue of the Month: Conscience
God helps us to choose to be good people.
A person of conscience...
- chooses to do the right thing, even when it is hard
- takes time to think and pray before making decisions
- knows that their actions and decisions affect all those around them
- thinks of others before themselves
Conscience is the voice of God within us. As you develop your conscience, you will learn to make decisions that encourage and support truly loving relationships. Our conscience reminds us how to act towards other people and how to be a good friend. Sometimes it is hard for us to do the right thing, but we must always remember that the right thing to do is not always the easy thing to do.
Let us now pray...for the grace and strength to be people of conscience - people who know the good and decent way to act, and then choose to act that way. Amen.
Ontario Catholic Graduate Expectations
- I believe that God is an awesome God!
- I believe and have faith in God
- I believe that God is with us always
- I believe that we can talk to God anytime and anywhere, through prayer
- I believe in the stories of the Bible
- I believe in the stories of Jesus' life, death and resurrection
- I believe in the Church community, celebrating mass, and the seven sacraments
- I believe in forgiveness
Because I am a believer, I will live my life like Jesus.
All Saints Day and All Souls Day
Rosary Apostolate
Remembrance Day
Our school will pay tribute to those who gave their lives for freedom on Tuesday, November 11 at our school beginning at 10:45 am. Thank you to Mrs. Strachan and Mme Bozzo for preparing students for this liturgy. Poppy stickers will be distributed to all students and we will be making a donation to the Veterans' Association.
We welcome you to join us for this occasion.
Servant Leadership
Promoting Respectful Language in School Community
As part of our commitment to fostering safe, inclusive, and Catholic learning environments, we are reminding all students and parent(s)/caregiver(s) that the use of discriminatory language or any language rooted in hate or racism is not permitted at school. Any use of such language will be addressed promptly and appropriately to ensure the safety and well-being of all students, staff, and community members.
We ask parent(s)/caregiver(s) to support this expectation by having age-appropriate conversations with their children about the importance of using respectful language and understanding the harm caused by discriminatory words. Together, we can continue to build a community grounded in human dignity, compassion, and the values of our Catholic Social Teachings.
School Safety Reminders
Kiss and Ride and Parking
We thank all drivers who move right up to the top of the kiss and ride lane. Please do not leave your vehicle unattended in the kiss and ride lane.
Reporting Student Absences
Please continue to use the Safe Arrival School Messenger program to report absences and/or lates.
Safety First
Please be aware that in the morning at 8:30 am, we do have our morning opening exercises which include O Canada and prayer. We may not be able to get the buzzer right away at this time. We thank you for your cooperation in this very important protocol.
Appropriate Dress - Cold Weather
For health and safety, we ask that all students have indoor shoes. Please note that in the event of an emergency evacuation, students will not have the opportunity to put boots on. Thank you for your support in this matter.
Winter Weather
Board policy states the amount of time outdoors should be reduced for children (grade 8 and under) when the temperature is minus 20 degrees Celsius or colder. When the temperature or equivalent wind chill temperature is minus 25 degrees Celsius or lower children shall be kept indoors.
With the exceptions of these occasions, all children will go out for recess and the lunch break. We remind all students to dress appropriately for the weather.
Busing and Courtesy Seat Policy
Thank you to all parents/guardians who completed the school board process for the Courtesy Seat Bus Request. Courtesy seat requests have been processed. Parents are reminded that courtesy seats are not guaranteed for the year and they may be rescinded at any time as new situations or enrollments arise. Please remember that this process must be conducted annually for students not normally eligible to ride the bus.
STOPR Fall and Winter Newsletter
Please note: we belong to Zone 1.
Allergies/Anaphylactic Shock
We are asking parents not to send food items to school when celebrating your child's birthday and consider an alternative such as pencils, stickers, etc. We thank you for your continued understanding.
Storage/Administration of Medication
If you have not already done so, please return the Medical Authorization forms sent home. Your child’s medication should be stored either in a fanny pack around their waist, or in the school office health room so that it can be accessed quickly should a medical emergency arise.
Each year, the form requires a Doctor or Health Practitioner to complete and sign it, as well as the parent.
If you child is diagnosed with a new condition or the present condition requires different medication or prescription, kindly contact our office to obtain the appropriate forms.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping our students stay safe and well.
Reporting Head Injuries
Cold and Flu Season
- Get your annual flu shot: the flu shot is your best defense against the flu. There are many locations across Peel where you can get your flu shot (doctor office, walk-in clinic, pharmacy, flu shot clinics)
- Keep children home when they are sick: if your child develops flu-like signs and symptoms (fever, cough, sore throat, body aches, headache, chills or fatigue), keep them home from school. Contact your health care provider if symptoms are severe.
- Practice good hygiene: help your child get into the habit of covering their nose and mouth with a tissue when they cough or sneeze and throw tissues in the garbage. Cough or sneeze into a sleeve or elbow, if they don't have a tissue. They should also avoid touching their eyes, nose or mouth. This is how germs are spread.
- Wash your hands: encourage your child to wash their hands often with soap and water or use hand sanitizer, especially after they cough or sneeze.
For more information, please visit Peel Public Health's website.
Tips for Managing Screen Time
Did you know?
Too much screen time increases your child’s risk of becoming:
- Sleep-deprived.
- Less school-ready.
- Inattentive.
- Aggressive.
- Nearsighted (when objects farther away look blurry).
Tips for Managing Screentime:
- Encourage and participate in face-to-face interactions such as shared reading, outdoor play, board games, and crafts.
- Turn off screens when not in use and avoid background TV use.
- Model screen time use around children and minimize your own use during mealtimes and play.
Reminder: All children 19 years of age or younger are eligible for an OHIP-covered eye exam by an optometrist each year.

Treaties Recognition Week - November 1 - 7, 2026
Did you know?
Ontario is covered by 46 treaties and other agreements, such as land purchases by the Crown signed between 1781 and 1930.
Treaties are the legally binding agreements that set out the rights, responsibilities and relationships of Indigenous people and the federal and provincial governments.
Free Dental Screening at School
Peel Public Health is providing free dental screening, as required by the Ontario Ministry of Health, for students in all grades at school on November 17, 18, 2026. Please note that dental screening may be completed earlier than the expected end date. A dental screening is a quick assessment by a registered dental hygienist who will take a look inside your child's mouth. A separate, sterilized mouth mirror is used for each child. It identifies children who may be in need of dental care. After the dental screening, a form with the results will go home with every child screened.
If a child is identified with a dental condition requiring immediate dental treatment, an additional form will be attached for the parent to fill in and return to Peel Public Health. The parent may be contacted by a dental staff member. A re-screening may be required.
If you do not want your child to be screened, please visit www.peelregion.ca/dental/schoolscreening or call Peel Public Health at 905-799-7700 by November 16, 2026.
For more details, please see below.
Bullying Awareness Week: November 16 - 22
Bullying can take different forms, including
- Physical - hitting, shoving, stealing or damaging property
- Verbal - name calling, mocking, or making sexist, racist or homophobic comments
- Social - excluding others from a group or spreading gossip or rumours about them
- Electronic (commonly known as cyberbullying) - spreading rumours and hurtful comments through the use of cellphones, e-mail, text messaging and social networking sites
At St. Veronica, we work collaboratively and very hard to create and maintain a safe, caring, inclusive and healthy environment for all. To this end, our staff have been planning and organizing a number of initiatives and activities to benefit our community. Some of these include presentations for our students, celebrating and highlighting various awareness days, and continued messages during daily announcements. At St. Veronica, we continue to focus on the message of acceptance and belonging. After all, 'We all belong to God's family.'
"Let us allow God to fill our hearts with His goodness and mercy."
- Pope Francis
Co-Ed Flag Football
The co-ed flag football team at St. Veronica is in full swing, with students enthusiastically practicing for an upcoming tournament under the guidance of Mr. Hilario and Mme. Bozzo. The team promotes inclusivity, teamwork, and school spirit, welcoming players of all skill levels. As they prepare for competition, students are building confidence, sharpening their skills, and creating lasting memories.
Junior Volleyball Teams
A huge shout-out goes to our Junior Boys' and Junior Girls' Volleyball teams!
Both teams showed incredible determination, perseverance, and teamwork as they competed in their Pod tournaments. In an exciting display of resilience, both the boys' and girls' teams found themselves trailin in their final matches but refused to give up. Through outstanding effort, communication, and a never-give-up attitude, they battled back to earn thrilling comeback victories and secure their spots in the Family Tournament.
We are so proud of our junior volleyball teams! A special thank you to Coach Hilario.
Cross Country
A big congratulations goes out to the entire Cross Country Team! We are extremely proud of your performance at the Family Meet at Erindale Park. You all showed such determination and perseverance throughout your races.
Special congratulations to Shima, Daniel, Kyle, Christopher, Carmine and Ayden for representing St. Veronica at the board finals.
You displayed such great sportsmanship. Thank you for a memorable Cross Country season!
Thank you to the coaches - Mr. Hilario and Mme. Bozzo.
School Trips and Program Enhancements
To support the planning and financial viability of school excursions, a minimum of 80% student participation is required for a trip to proceed. This threshold helps ensure that transportation, supervision, and program costs remain affordable and that the experience benefits the majority of students in the class.
Please return permission forms and payments by the specified deadline. Verbal consent over the telephone will not be accepted. We encourage all students to participate, as school trips provide valuable opportunities to extend learning beyond the classroom and build community with their peers.
Please note that if fewer than 80% of students register for a trip, the excursion may be cancelled or alternative arrangements may need to be considered.
Volunteers
We are always looking for volunteers to attend school trips. If you are interested in volunteering on a trip, you will need to have a Vulnerable Sector Check from Peel Police.
Please be aware that the current processing time for Peel Regional Police Checks is approximately 14 business days (2 weeks). Please request a School Authorization letter from the school office before applying to Peel Police.
Please use the link below to start your application. There is a fee.
If you are unsure whether you have a current Vulnerable Sector Check, please contact the school.
Each year, in the Spring, the school office will send home an Annual Offense Declaration for volunteer signature which will keep the Vulnerable Sector active.
