Greetings Bulldog Families!

We have officially completed our second full week of school, and it has been wonderful to see our Bulldogs settling into routines, learning classroom expectations, and building new friendships. Our students and staff have been working hard each day, and we are so proud of the positive energy throughout our school!

Thank you, families, for your continued partnership and support as we begin another great school year. Together, we are creating a school where every Bulldog feels safe, supported, valued, and ready to learn. ❤️

Important Dates Important Dates

EARLY RELEASE DAY Students will be dismissed at 12:30 PM

Please make sure your child knows their dismissal plan for the early release day. If your child normally rides the bus, walks home, or is picked up, please plan accordingly.

Important Reminders Important Reminders

🎒 Keep a Change of Clothes in Your Child’s Backpack

Accidents, spills, mud, and other unexpected messes can happen during the school day! Please keep a seasonally appropriate change of clothes in your child's backpack. Having an extra set of clothing available helps us get students comfortable and back to learning as quickly as possible.

👟 Wear Safe Shoes for Recess and P.E.

Please make sure your child wears safe, comfortable shoes that are appropriate for running and playing on days they have recess and P.E. Tennis shoes or other secure, closed-toe shoes are the best choice to help keep our Bulldogs safe while they learn, play, and stay active!

Thank you for helping us keep our Bulldogs comfortable, safe, and ready to learn! 🐾

📞 Please Call the Office When Your Child Is Absent

If your child will be absent from school, please call the Beulah Park office to report the absence. This helps us keep our attendance records accurate and ensures we know that your child is safe.

🏫 Every Day Counts!

Regular attendance is one of the most important things families can do to support student success. When students attend school consistently, they have more opportunities to learn, practice new skills, participate in classroom activities, build relationships with their teachers and classmates, and stay connected to instruction.

Even missing a few days can make it more difficult for young learners to keep up with important foundational skills in reading, writing, math, and social-emotional learning.

We understand that children sometimes need to stay home when they are sick. However, when your child is healthy and able to attend, please make school attendance a priority.

Our goal is simple: We want every Bulldog in school, learning and growing, every day! 🐾

Thank you for partnering with us to make attendance a priority!

🏠 LEARNING AT HOME 🏠 LEARNING AT HOME

Small Moments Make a Big Difference!

Families play an important role in helping children become confident readers. You don't need special materials or hours of homework. Just 10–15 minutes of reading together each day can make a difference!

📚 Kindergarten Bulldogs

At this age, focus on building a love of books and developing early reading skills.

Try these at home:

  • Read a book together every day and talk about the pictures and story.
  • Ask your child to retell the story using their own words.

  • Practice identifying letters and their sounds.

  • Look for familiar letters and words on signs, labels, and around your home.

  • Practice rhyming words: cat, hat, bat.

  • Have your child point to words as you read together.

  • Celebrate their attempts—even when they don't get every word right!

Ask: “What do you think will happen next?” or “Tell me about your favorite part.”

📖 First Grade Bulldogs

First graders are building independence and strengthening their ability to connect sounds, letters, and words.

Try these at home:

  • Read with your child every day.
  • Have your child sound out unfamiliar words rather than immediately giving them the answer.
  • Practice common sight words.
  • Ask your child to identify the beginning, middle, and end of a story.
  • Have them make predictions before and during reading.
  • Encourage them to reread a sentence if it doesn't make sense.
  • Talk about new vocabulary words you encounter while reading.

Ask: “How do you know?” and “What in the story makes you think that?”

📕 Second Grade Bulldogs

Second graders are working toward becoming fluent, confident readers who understand what they read.

Try these at home:

  • Encourage your child to read independently for 10–15 minutes each day.
  • Have your child read aloud to you occasionally so you can hear their fluency.
  • Encourage them to reread when a sentence doesn't make sense.
  • Ask questions about characters, setting, problem, and solution.
  • Have your child explain the main idea and important details.
  • Talk about unfamiliar vocabulary and use context clues to figure out meanings.
  • Ask your child to support their answers with evidence from the text.

Ask: “What is the most important thing you learned?” or “What makes you think that?”

❤️ Most Important: Make Reading Enjoyable!

Let your child choose books about topics they love. Read together, take turns reading pages, visit the library, listen to audiobooks, and talk about stories during car rides or at bedtime.

When children see that reading is something we enjoy—not just something we have to do—they are more likely to become lifelong readers.

A Message From The Principal A Message From The Principal

Our theme this year is “Love Where You Learn,” and we are working every day to make Beulah Park a place where students feel a strong sense of belonging. We want our Bulldogs to know that they are important, they are cared for, and they are an important part of our school family.

Thank you for helping us make Beulah Park a place where our students can learn, grow, and shine!

Have a wonderful week, Bulldog Families!
