What types of programs are offered?
Onsite Visits. Owned and operated by the Lansing School District, the Ebersole Center is an environmental education center and youth camp located in Wayland, Michigan. Our 238 acres campus features undisturbed natural beauty and exceptional biodiversity. We offer safe and secure accommodations for day or overnight visits (and the best part is that the district covers all costs associated with programming, food, and transportation). Spaces are limited so book your visit today.
Outreach Programs. As an alternative to an onsite trip, we are able to provide programming right at your school. This is a great option for students that cannot travel to the Ebersole Center. These programs are planned and facilitated by our Naturalists and all materials are provided at no cost.
Virtual Learning Sessions. Our team can also provide web-based interactive learning experiences for your students. We can connect with the whole class or with individual students on their own devices in a classroom (or even while at home). Our Naturalists will deliver all of the content and provide any of the supporting documents and materials at no cost.
Online Resource Library. In addition to the above options we also created a digital resource library of photos, videos, and virtual tours that teachers and students can access in order to use however they see fit. Some of these videos are whole sessions (or lessons) along with supporting documents, others (most) are shorter teasers and supporting artifacts that can be drawn upon as needed. Ebersole Online is a wonderful place to access digital teaching materials relevant to environmental education.
Professional Development and Consultation. Another type of support that we are able to offer is professional development related to (a) utilizing the outdoors as a learning space, and (b) providing technical support related to the development of outdoor learning spaces (i.e., outdoor classrooms, butterfly gardens, rain gardens, composting areas, worm gardens, etc.).
