Inspired by the generosity of our community
We’re grateful to Advanced Health CCO for their generous donation in support of at-risk youth in the Bandon School District. Thank you to everyone who gives, supports, and helps make a meaningful difference for our students and our community.
Leadership
Our BHS Leadership Class had the honor of thanking Bandon-by-the-Sea Rotary today for their generous support in helping send our students to the Oregon Student Council Association Conference in Seaside at the end of November.
Opportunities like this matter. When our future leaders get the chance to network, learn from peers across the state, and see what student leadership looks like beyond our own community, it broadens their perspective and strengthens the skills they’ll bring back to Bandon High School.
Thank you, Rotary, for investing in our kids and in the future of our community.

VFW Canned Food Drive
Thank you to everyone who donated non parishable foods for our annual drive for the VFW. All of the food donated will be going to people in need in our community this holiday season. Every grade got really involved, and we recieved over 250 items! We didn't quite cover the tree, but it was a valiant effort. 5th grade won the competition this year and has recieved some extra recess time as an incentive.
Character Dares
We are starting a new weekly tradition at Harbor Lights. Each week we will have a "Character Dare" challenge, where students are tasked with performing a small task that encourages kindness and community within our school. Every student who completes the dare will be entered into a weekly drawing for a small prize. The first week back after break, students will be challenged to invite someone new to sit with them at lunch!
On December 18th, Mrs. Hambly's class headed to the public library for a few hours to get an inside view into all the amazing opportunities our library has to offer.
NWEA Testing
HLMS will be holding mid year NWEA testing (or benchmark assessments) in the middle of January.
Theater Club
Our new social studies teacher, Mr. Bayless, has started an after school theater club for 5th - 12th graders. It is held on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30-4:30. Middle schoolers are required to fill out a permission slip in order to participate. You can call the office with any questions, or email Mr. Bayless. Jbayless@bandon.k12.or.us
