CHS Student Council Weekly Update

Once school starts, I will also post a link to the update each week in our Schoology Group - Carlson Student Council. Members in grades 10 - 12 if you have not joined please do so, our join code is J8BW-BBKX-9H53B. Remember, you are joining a group, not a class. Freshmen you will may have to wait until the school year starts to join.

Just a reminder we have our meeting tomorrow at 11:30 a.m. in the library. Please enter using the doors near the auditorium (not the main entrance due to construction). The meeting will take place in the library. Please head directly to the library and do not enter areas marked off (there is construction taking place in various places and floors may be waxed as well).

If you can't make it because you are out of town or have a practice, that is fine, but if available, you should 100% attend this meeting.

Here are some things to think about before our August meeting in a couple weeks:

• Possible spirit days for homecoming week
• Where your class will build its float/who will transport your float on parade day
• Shirt design (see next section)
• Games for pep rally

Thank you to everyone who submitted a shirt design. Voting is now closed. Our winner will be announced at the meeting tomorrow. I hope to have order forms out this week. All members must order one item. In the past, we have offered standard T-shirts, dry fit shirts, and hoodies. T-shirts usually run $15 - $20 depending on the design. Payment will not be due until the clothing arrives.

I have started the process of checking applications. I plan to post an updated approved list of candidates by the end of this week.

Seniors, please help spread the word regarding nominations for 2026 Homecoming Court:

• The link to nominate is now live. Class of 2027 members please share this with your class.
• Students only need to be nominated once. Multiple nominations do not increase anyone's chances of appearing on court
• A student must meet ALL of the following requirements to appear on the ballot: .) A CHS senior in good standing 2.) Must have a minimum of a 2.500 cumulative GPA as of the final report card of junior year 3.) No more than 3 days of out-of-school suspension and no out-of-school suspensions in junior year to present day 4.) Student must have completed at least FIVE additional school-related activities by the end of their junior year (for example: Marching band 3 years, track two years is fine, multiple years can be counted in a single club/sport/activity). Email Mr. Pehote at pehotem@gibdist.net with any questions.
• Nomination forms will be due by 2:30 p.m. EST Thursday 9/17/26. No late/incomplete forms will be accepted.
• Seniors will vote 9/23/26 - 9/25/26 to select the court. The entire school will vote for Homecoming King and Queen.

I have created a Google Photo Album so council members can share photos from the 26 - 27 school year. You can't join with your school account, but you can join via a personal Gmail account. The 2027 Student Council State Conference is 2/27/27 - 3/1/27 in Grand Rapids. If you have any interest in attending the event please complete this form. Please note that completing this form does not lock you into attending (or guarantee that you will attend). Estimated cost for attending will be $200 - $250 per student.

• Wednesday 9/23/26 8 a.m. - Friday 9/25/26 noon - Seniors vote for 26 Homecoming Court
• Monday 9/28/26 5th hour - First Picnic With the Principal, by email invite
• Tuesday 9/29/26 1st hour - Full council meeting
