Glenwood
This Week's Scouting Report
Thursday February 19, 2026
Good evening Glenwood families,
I hope you enjoyed the long holiday weekend, celebrating Valentine’s Day and Presidents’ Day, along with the warmer weather, the Winter Olympics, and time spent with family and friends. I’m also looking forward to Daylight Saving Time in just a few weeks, which always feels like the unofficial start of spring.
Despite the short week, we’ve been busy at GES! Tomorrow, we will host the closing ceremonies of the Glenwood Winter Olympics. We are excited to recognize our students’ efforts and award medals to our gold, silver, and bronze finishers.
Students are encouraged to dress in their country’s colors and bring signs, pom-poms, or other spirited items to help us celebrate. We can’t wait to see their enthusiasm and outstanding sportsmanship!
The Glenwood Read-a-thon begins Monday, February 23rd! Please be sure to register and start reading! Check out the information below and informational packets sent home with your child for all the information. Happy reading!
Please see all the happenings below!
Best,
Josh Rehak, Principal

Lunar New Year
Mrs. Bradley's Kindergarten class celebrated Lunar New Year with one of our parents. She taught the children how to bow respectfully to earn "lucky money" from elders, and the children each colored their own hanbok outfit. They also learned about the celebratory breakfast many families prepare for the New Year.
News from Second Grade
.
Second graders have been learning and growing for over 100 days so far this year! Wow! We celebrated 100 days of school together. Time flies when you’re a 2nd grader!
.
Second graders put their habitat knowledge to the test on their field trip to Adventure Aquarium! They were able to see and touch sting rays, walk a bridge above sharks, and participate in a demonstration on habitats.
Evidence please! In skills, second graders are working on showing evidence to support their thinking. This includes using their readers to find the text and page that they found their information.
Second grade scientists are experimenting with what plants need to survive. They have planted radish seeds and are finding out: Do plants really need sunlight? Scientists have found that plants can grow without sunlight, but they do not thrive.
.
Second graders have loved the Olympic Games, especially having learned all about their origins in Knowledge! They have competed in phonics, math, science, and social studies events.
Tomorrow: Wear your country's COLORS for Glenwood Olympics Closing Ceremonies

Parent / Guardian Resources & Reminders
Late Arrivals - please sign in!
Our school day begins at 8:50 am. At that time, we close and lock the front doors. Any student arriving past 8:50 should be accompanied by an adult to the front door. We ask you sign them in and our Security Greeter will give the student a red pass. If they don't follow these procedures, there is a chance your student will be marked absent if there is no documentation and we are unaware of their late arrival. All drop offs should be in the front of the building, following our Car Line map - NOT by the side door.
Parent / Teacher Conferences
Our Parent/Teacher Conferences will be held Wednesday March 4th from 4pm-8pm and Thursday March 5th from 8:30am-8pm. Please sign up for a designated slot to meet with your child's Homeroom Teacher. We look forward to discussing all the progress of your children! We have enough room for one slot per student.
