- September is National Suicide Prevention month. Every year, mental health organizations and individuals raise awareness of suicide prevention. #BeThe1To is the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline’s message for National Suicide Prevention Month. It helps spread the word about actions we can all take to prevent suicide.
Good morning, Parents & Families!
We are excited to announce that we are starting the Domino’s Pizza Fundraiser. The money raised will go towards student rewards, teacher appreciation events, and the Hornets cheer team.
Here is a video that will explain everything you need to know about the program! The remaining eight videos should be watched throughout the course of the two weeks: The Slice the Price Card: Fundraising Made Easy - Day 1
Let’s begin by checking out your school’s dashboard: https://dash.dominos.cards/50780
Scroll down to the section “Register to Pick Your Prize” or click here https://register.dominos.cards/50780. Once you register, your child will be able to pick their prize and share their very own store link! Once the fundraiser is complete, they will receive the prize they selected from the highest level they qualify for.
After registering, share your child’s link via email, text, and social media! When a customer clicks on your link, it will take them directly to your child’s store to purchase a card, and we will send the card directly to them. Using your personalized link will ensure your child is given credit for the purchase.
Also, once you register you will have two chances to earn a $50 gift card! The registered student with the most cards sold by October 24 at 11:59 p.m. EST will win a $50 Gift Card (when our group sells at least 100 cards online).
For questions, please call the hotline number: 866-252-6103
Thank you for participating and supporting our school!
We encourage all students to participate in our Hispanic Heritage Dress-Up Days!
A reminder that all attire must still adhere to the student dress code.
BACKGROUND: Gov. Greg Abbott signed Texas House Bill 1481 (HB 1481) into law, which requires all Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools to implement written policies banning students from using “personal communication devices” - such as cell phones - during the school day.
What students are NOT allowed to use under HB 1481 during class:
Any wireless electronic communication device capable of transmitting and/or receiving data
Smartphones
Smart watches
Personal tablets
Text messaging devices
Personal laptops
“Smart Wear” (Examples: Bluetooth headphones, earphones, smart glasses
Here is the district link to the Consequences for Violations - Junior High/High School Students!
Please help us ensure your child is aware of the new state policies!
Beginning Tuesday, September 2nd, we will start enforcing student ID requirements.
We want to ensure that all parents and students are aware of our campus tardy policy.
Slight changes have been made the to the bell schedule.
The goals of this revision are to (1) reduce hallway congestion during transitions and (2) streamline the day by reducing the total number of bells. The updated bell schedule is attached below.
Student Arrival and Dismissal
ENTRANCE
Parents are not allowed to walk students to their class.
Doors will open at 8:00 am.
Car-riders/walkers will enter through the bus ramp doors.
CAR RIDERS
There will be TWO lanes open for the car rider line.
Please DO NOT drop off students prior to the drop-off zone.
Staff members will direct traffic and guide vehicles to the designated drop off/pick up zones.
To ensure our students are safe, please DO NOT drop off or pick up students from the staff parking lot. We do not want our students crossing the walkway in front of moving vehicles.
WALKERS
Walkers will enter/exit through the bus ramp doors.
TRANSPORTATION CHANGE REQUESTS
Requests for transportation changes can be made in person or via email at vanessa.gomez@cvisd.org with a photo ID attached on the email.
Parents/Guardians must submit a signed letter with the request and a copy of a visible & valid ID.
No changes to transportation after 3:15 pm. (12:00 pm on 1⁄2 days), without the approval from an administrator.
Student Hornet Policies
Attention Parents:
We want to ensure that all students are aware of our campus policies and expectations. We have attached the student hornet policies for you to review with your children.
Please be sure to take a look at the dress code, as we have students that have been out of dress code.
English: Hornet Policies
Spanish: Las Políticas De Los Hornets
We are aware that our hornet students want to show their pride at athletic events and we want them to attend as many as possible!
As per the new Channelview Athletic Regulations, students attending games on campus- both Elementary & Middle School must be accompanied by a supervising adult and remain seated with them at all times.
We understand that this is different from previous year, but it is important that we communicate this with you all.
We hope that with your collaboration we can inform all of our students of this new policy!
