Welcome to 4K!

We would like to welcome your child to the 4K Learn and Play program! It was great to meet everyone at the Ready, Set, Go conferences last Wednesday! The focus during our first week of school will be to help your child feel comfortable within our classroom and to start learning our 4K daily routines. The first day of school (Tuesday, Sept. 3) we will be reading books like The Pigeon Has to Go to School by Mo Willems. This is a fun book that will surely get your child excited for school! Click below for some videos you could watch with your child. These books are great for helping your child become familiar with a school-type setting and relating to the emotions often felt during those first days of school.

4K A.M. Class

The morning class session runs from 7:50 a.m. to 10:35 a.m. If you are dropping your child off in the morning, please park and walk them across the crosswalk to the 4K line inside door #7 by the cafeteria. 4K is the only grade where you are allowed to park and walk your child to the door. The earliest they can be dropped off due to supervision is 7:45 a.m. An adult will line them up to bring them down to the classroom at 7:50, so please make sure your child is dropped off by this time. For the first week, it is okay if you want to join the line and walk with your child down to the classroom. Starting the second week (Monday, September 9), we ask that you say your goodbyes at the drop-off line to help your child foster a sense of independence. The morning class dismissal is at the front door (by the office off Quarry St.) at 10:35 a.m. Please park your car and walk to the door to get your child.

4K P.M. Class

The afternoon class session runs from 12:10 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. If you are dropping off your child, please bring them to the front door (by the office off Quarry St.). Teachers will open the doors at 12:10 p.m. Please wait until you see a 4K teacher before leaving your child. We will line them up to bring them to the classroom at 12:15, so please make sure your child is dropped off by this time. For the first week, it is okay if you want to join the line and walk with your child down to the classroom. Starting the second week (Monday, September 9), we ask that you say your goodbyes at the outer doors to help your child foster a sense of independence. The end of class pick up starts at 2:55 p.m. in the lower lot at Door #7 by the cafeteria. You (or other pre-approved pick-up people) must park your car and use the crosswalk to come get your child from us inside this door. 4K is the only grade allowed to park and come get their child.

Bus

If there are any changes to the drop off or pick up of your child please contact the GORiteway bus company at 608-423-2225. The bus driver will not drop off your child unless they see that you are at home. Make sure that you make yourself seen. Please double check Skyward bussing information on Monday to confirm scheduled drop off and pick up times. Remember the first week the schedules may vary due to drivers learning their new routes.

Also contact us via e-mail with planned dismissal changes. If these occur after class starts, they need to be called directly to the office at 608-764-5442, no later than 10:15 for the morning class and 2:30 for the afternoon class.

Questions?

We are going to have a great first day! We are looking forward to welcoming your child into our 4K class. If you have any questions at all about any bus/pick up/drop off routines, please don't hesitate to e-mail us! If your child is going to do something different on Tuesday than their normal arrival/dismissal (that we did not discuss at RSG conferences), please let us know as soon as possible. Please let us know if you want to add or delete an e-mail address from this mailing list. Thanks! :)
