Principal's Message
I was thinking the other day - great teachers and parents have the same super power - the ability to predict the future. They see potential in someone long before that person sees it in themselves.
I am at a point with my two oldest kids (ages 22 and 20) that I can much more clearly see who they are becoming and who they are as young adults. But there were moments when they were younger - middle school especially (hahaha!!) - when I wasn’t so sure.
It is important as adult influencers in young people’s lives that we do not close the book on them. They are in the process of writing their book. It is our job to look ahead into chapter 25, when they are in chapter 12, and help to get them to where they can (and will) be.
It is about this time of the school year in which older students often return to visit our teachers. It is really refreshing when we run into former students (even better when they come back to visit as it is their choice to do so!) and we get to see their growth - it confirms what we always knew was true about them.
I am proud of our staff. They remind me daily of this through their example and they inspire me continue to see the best in each student. When I first started at Worthingway two years ago, I asked the staff to create their expectations of me. If you want to know what the Worthingway staff is all about - look no further than this list. The number one expectation they had for me was "Create a positive, growth mindset for staff and students" and their number three expectation was "Work with students to be their best selves."
We celebrate Teacher Appreciation Week from May 4-8. If you would like to recognize a staff member, please use this link. Students can use this link too (consider having your student complete one each night next week)!

Thank you PTA!
- Our PTA hosted a fantastic Mental Wellness Event on April 28 in our library. Many thanks to Jennifer Johnson and our PTA for all of their work to coordinate and facilitate this event. We are certain it was helpful and informative to those that attended.
Staff Shoutouts!
- To Kelly Remias: My son BEAMS when he speaks of Ms. Remias. He feels so comfortable telling her when he needs help or doesn’t fully understand something. She’s always willing to assist him and then somehow gives him the confidence to then help others. Her patience and kindness is what makes her an amazing addition to the staff at Worthingway!

Important REMINDERS
Medications at School:
- Students in grade 6-12 are permitted to carry and self-administer over-the-counter medications at school, only if a form has been completed and signed by their parent/guardian, and has been turned in to our School Nurse, Joyce Casey. You may find this form here. Students are never permitted to share these medications with others at school. Parent/guardians are also able to elect for the over-the-counter medicine to remain in the health office, and dosages are administered and recorded by Mrs. Casey.
- Prescription medications (with the exception of epipens and albuterol inhalers) are not allowed to be carried by students, and must remain in the health office. All medications, prescription and over-the-counter, must come to our school buildings in their original containers so they can be properly identified.
- Please take extra care to make sure your student is only bringing medications to school that have appropriate forms filed with the health office. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Casey at 614-450-4300 or jcasey@wscloud.org.

DACC Summer Camp
- Attention families of rising 7th-9th graders! The Delaware Area Career Center is hosting its annual Summer Camp on June 2-4. DACC will offer nine camps this year, covering a wide variety of subjects and career fields. Each camp will be hands-on, engaging and fast-paced — allowing local middle school students to "try on a career" and learn new skills over a three-day span. They will get to learn from and alongside industry professionals and current DACC students, all while making new friends who have similar interests. It is a great way to kick off your summer and begin to experience the magic of career-technical education in your own community!
- Registration will open Wednesday, March 4th at 6 a.m. Visit DACC's website for more information on this year's camp offerings and DACC Summer Camp in general!

THE PTA WANTS YOU - JOIN OUR TEAM!
As we look ahead to the 2026–2027 school year, we are inviting YOU to be part of something really special - the Worthingway PTA leadership team!
Here's the thing… Being on the PTA is genuinely a blast. We're talking about working alongside the Student Council to plan Canteen, going all out for Teacher Appreciation Week, kicking off school fundraisers, supporting our amazing administrative staff behind the scenes, and yes… Having some real fun with our students along the way.
There are so many ways to get involved, no matter your schedule or experience level. No prior PTA experience is needed - just a willingness to show up, collaborate, and make an impact on the students, teachers, and community at Worthingway.
We are currently looking to fill a few roles, and we have one we're especially excited about:
VICE PRESIDENT
We are looking for someone who is ready to help steer the ship! Our incoming VP will work alongside our current Vice President during the 2026–2027 school year, setting them up to step into the President role for 2027–2028. This is a wonderful opportunity to get involved and a higher level at your own pace, with a team beside you every step of the way! No experience necessary! Just a heart for making a difference.
Interested in any PTA role or want to learn more? We'd love to hear from you!
Reach out to us directly at: worthingwaypta@gmail.com
We can't wait to meet our next team members. Come be part of something great!
With gratitude,
The Worthingway PTA
