Lower School K-2 News
Mrs. Morris
What an AMAZING week of school spirit! We had so much fun celebrating together, and our Cardinal community spirit is truly unmatched! Thank you for joining in the fun and helping make this week so special.
On Time, Ready to Learn! Please be mindful of morning tardies. Instruction begins promptly at 7:30 a.m., and every minute matters! Arriving a few minutes early helps students settle in, get ready for the day, and avoid missing valuable learning time. Students who walk in late each day are missing instruction, feel disorganized, and stressed. The teachers are constantly trying to manage catching students up and organizing students as they walk in if they aren’t ready to learn by 7:30. Thank you for helping us start each day strong!
Morning Parking Reminder: Please continue to avoid parking in the numbered parking spaces in the morning. These spaces are reserved for our teachers, who rely on having them available when they arrive at school. When visiting campus, please park in the third lane of North Carpool or on the practice field. Thank you for helping us take care of our staff and keep morning traffic running smoothly!
Boo Bash Volunteers Needed! 🎃 We need YOU to help make Boo Bash a spooktacular success! Please consider signing up to volunteer. These events are only possible because of our amazing families, and we appreciate every helping hand!

Mrs. Wojtecki
Thank you, families, for your wonderful participation in Spirit Week! It was such a fun way to reconnect with our school community after Fall Break. We loved seeing our Cardinals show their school spirit, and we appreciate your enthusiasm and support in making the week so special!
Looking ahead, our Intermediate School students will be taking their NC Reading Check-In on Wednesday and their NC Math Check-In on Thursday. We encourage families to help students prepare for success by ensuring they get plenty of rest the night before, arrive at school on time, and eat a well-balanced breakfast. Coming to school feeling rested, nourished, and ready to learn helps students put their best foot forward!
Thank you for your continued partnership and support. Let's have another great week of learning, growing, and celebrating our Cardinals!

Mr. Zorn
I hope everyone had a great Spirit Week. It was such a joy to see everyone displaying their Cardinal Pride throughout the week. Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who dedicate their time to make this an amazing annual event, especially our HS students who show up and show out for the Spirit Parade.
Boo Bash is Saturday October 24th. While this event has transitioned to an event for K-5 families, I want to make it clear that MS students that have K-5 siblings are still invited to attend with their families.
Picture Day is Tuesday, October 20th. Students should be in dress code for this event.

Mr. Zorn
Our High School Students outdid themselves last week, and the Cardinal Spirit was everywhere. Congratulations to the Seniors who dominated Spirit Week this year with an amazing demonstration of Cardinal Pride. The battle was close between the underclassmen. By the end of the week, the Juniors edged out the Sophomores for Second place in our annual friendly competition. Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who dedicate their time to make this an amazing annual event.
Now that Spirit Week is behind us, let’s turn our attention to Boo Bash on October 24th. We would love for the High School students to earn some hours by volunteering at this event. Students who volunteer will also receive a ticket for the Haunted Hayride.
Don’t miss our first ever theater production at the Dowd theater this week on Thursday and Friday night. We are so excited about this partnership that allows us to finally showcase our UA talent on a real stage. There will be two plays each night with an intermission in between shows.
It’s College Application Week. Counselors will be meeting with Seniors and Juniors early in the week to discuss the college admissions process and to help students take advantage of the free application period.
Picture Day is Tuesday, October 20th. Wear your best smile.

UA Foundation
Dress Down To Build Up: $1 to dress down on Fridays and other selected days. Can be paid each Friday OR prepay by semester/year. This is a fundraiser for the school that was started by 4th graders in 2001.
Annual Appeal: UA is a public charter school, which means we do not receive any state or local funding for buildings-unlike traditional public schools, which get about $2,000 more per student, specifically for facility needs. Your contribution to the UA Foundation helps us make up the gap in funding.
