Dear Parsons Families,

I hope this message finds you soaking up the last sweet moments of summer! I’m so excited to welcome you all back to another incredible school year at Parsons. It was a joy to see many familiar faces at the July 4th parade. What a great way to kick off the season! Now, we’re gearing up for a year full of smiles, learning, laughter, and the unmistakable energy that fills the building when students return.

Our amazing custodial team has been hard at work all summer preparing the building for your arrival. Every classroom has been thoroughly cleaned, and the hallways are gleaming after being stripped and waxed.

Please join me in warmly welcoming Brittany Szczepanski as the new secretary at Parsons! She is eager to support our students, families, and staff, and I know she will become a valuable member of our Parsons family. We will greatly miss seeing Veronica behind the desk each day. We were so lucky to have her leading the way for 25 years! As we transition, please remember to bring your ID, introduce yourself to Ms. Brittany, practice patience, and be kinder than necessary!

Here are a few important upcoming dates and details to keep in mind:

  • The first day of school is Tuesday, September 2nd. It will be a half-day with dismissal at 11:55 a.m. There is no afternoon Champions.

  • Our regular school day runs from 8:38 a.m. to 3:33 p.m, with doors opening at 8:33 a.m.

  • You can find the full school year calendar at this link and on the District website.

We are excited to invite you to our Open House on Wednesday, August 27th from 5:30–7:00 p.m. Come meet your child’s teacher, visit the classroom, and get excited for the year ahead!

Families of incoming kindergarteners—don’t miss Popsicles with the Principal just before Open House! Join us on the playground from 5:00–5:30 p.m. to meet fellow kindergarten families, play, and enjoy a frozen treat together.

On Tuesday, August 26th, you’ll receive a welcome email from your child’s teacher. This email will include your child’s class placement along with important details about the start of the school year.

If you have a student entering Kindergarten or Young Fives, you should already have your screening appointment scheduled for August 19th or 20th. We’re looking forward to meeting you and your child during this special time.

Our suggested supply lists can be found here.

Thank you for your continued partnership and support. I can’t wait to see the joy, curiosity, and growth this year will bring for our students, staff, and families. Let’s make it a great year!

Warmly,
Sarah Aherne
Principal, Parsons Elementary

On Tuesday, August 26th, you can view your child’s teacher assignment by logging into the ParentConnect Parent Portal. This is not the same as ParentSquare, which is used for school communication.

Need help logging in? See the documents below for steps on how to retrieve or reset your PIN and password.

That afternoon, you'll also receive a welcome message from your child’s teacher via ParentSquare.

In the email, teachers will provide information about the Open House. Our Open House will be on Wednesday, August 27th, from 5:30-7:000 pm.

When our open house takes place just before the school year begins, it leaves teachers with limited time to prepare. As a result, you may notice a few bulletin boards still in progress, nametags not yet labeled, or some items slightly out of place. While every detail may not be perfectly finished, our priority is for students to meet their teachers, explore their classrooms, find their desks, and practice entering and exiting the classroom.

All of our 1st through 5th-grade students will be expected to walk into school independently on the first day. While we will have many staff stations to help guide them, the open house is a great opportunity to practice walking to class and greet their teacher.
