Foussat Weekly Newsletter
May 17, 2026
Message from Mrs. Glassford and Ms. Alton
Dear Foussat Families,
Last week we celebrated a wonderful Teacher and Staff Appreciation week organized by our amazing PTA and Foussat families. During the whole week, teachers and staff were treated with snack, lunches, and even some special surprises! Our Thanks-a-lot Camp Counselors (aka PTA and families) prepared an amazing week of pampering our teachers and staff.
Many of our families also participated in our free Foussat Science Night last Thursday also facilitated by the PTA and organized by one of our awesome first grade teacher - Ms. Thielen!
Last Wednesday, Foussat Falcons participated in the district's first annual Two-Way Bilingual Immersion (TWBI) Showcase. Our students shared posters, writing, and presented songs and poems in this district wide celebration.
This upcoming week parents can bring their students before school from 7:45 - 8:10 am to view the amazing Book Fair and purchase books in our library. "Families that read together, succeed together!"
Go Foussat Falcons!
School Site Council Meeting

Two Way Bilingual Immersion (TWBI) Showcase
Our Two Way Bilingual Immersion (TWBI) Program students and teachers presented a showcase last Wednesday at Chavez Middle School. The OUSD Curriculum and Instruction Department, specifically Mrs. Mejillas, organized this first annual TWBI Student Showcase & Exposition. There were more than 250 attendees!
Thank you to those who sent in student work, pictures, videos and a special shout out to those who had their children perform. Each piece of student work was honored and admired by many! We also had David Aguilar, Citlali Garza, Eva Arista, Arabella Bruegman and Annalyn Best speak on our student panel as they were interviewed by our very own Kindergarten teacher, Melanie Nance. We are very proud of all of the work that our students have accomplished with your support.

Dear Foussat Families,
Thank you so much for your incredible support during our Teacher and Staff Appreciation Week, “Camp Thanks-A-Lot!” Because of your generosity, kindness, donations, notes, and encouragement, we were able to celebrate the amazing staff members who support our students every single day.
We would also like to extend a special thank you to our generous local business partners who contributed donations, gift cards, food, and other items throughout the week. Their support helped make our celebration even more meaningful, and we are incredibly grateful for their partnership and generosity.
