El Paso High - #TigerStrong
Week 8
WEEK OF SEPTEMBER 23, 2024
Tigers-
As we wrap up Week 7 of the school year, I want to take a moment to express my appreciation for all the hard work and dedication you’ve shown so far. We’re starting 9-week exams (some have already started), and your efforts in preparing our students are truly commendable. A side note: This 9-week report card period is only 41 days.
Important Reminders:
Exam Preparation: Please ensure that you have reviewed the exam schedule and communicated any necessary details to your students. Encourage them to take advantage of any review sessions or resources available.
Student Support: This week, let’s focus on providing additional support to our students who may be struggling. Consider organizing study groups or offering office hours to address any questions they might have.
Wellness Check: Remember to take care of yourselves, too! As we approach exams, it can be a stressful time for both students and staff. Let’s prioritize our well-being and support each other.
Highlights from the Week:
Professional Development: Thank you to those who participated in this last week’s PD sessions. Your engagement and willingness to help students make a big difference.
Voter Registration: I’m thrilled to share some inspiring news: 60 of our eligible students have successfully registered to vote! This is a fantastic milestone and a testament to our collective efforts in promoting civic engagement within our school community. I'd like to thank Ms. St. John and Mr. Gailey for spearheading the effort.
Upcoming Events:
Parent Attendance Meeting: Scheduled for Wednesday September 25th at 5:30pm via Zoom. Our attendance continues to be lower than the 95% target goal.
Faculty & Staff Meeting: Wednesday September 25th at 8am. Please don't be late.
Intersession: Wednesday Oct. 2nd- Friday Oct. 4th. Make sure your Edgenuity is set up.
Thank you for your continued commitment to our students and each other. Let’s finish this 9-week stretch strong!
Here’s to a great week ahead!

Resources
AP Classroom & Khan Academy
I want to take a moment to emphasize the importance of utilizing the AP Classroom and Khan Academy available through Classlink/Plaza. These tools can significantly enhance our students’ learning experiences and better prepare them for their exams.
Why Use AP Classroom and Khan Academy?
Targeted Practice: Both platforms provide tailored practice questions and instructional resources designed to align with AP curriculum standards. This targeted approach helps students focus on areas where they may need more support.
Data-Driven Insights: AP Classroom offers real-time performance data, allowing you to identify trends and adjust your teaching strategies accordingly. This information can guide your instruction and help you provide personalized support to your students.
Flexible Learning: Khan Academy’s comprehensive library of videos and exercises allows students to learn at their own pace. Encourage your students to use these resources to reinforce their understanding outside of the classroom.
Implementation Tips
Integrate Into Lesson Plans: Start incorporating AP Classroom and Khan Academy assignments into your lesson plans. This can encourage students to engage with the material regularly.
Promote Student Usage: Remind students about the benefits of these tools and how they can access them through Classlink/Plaza. You might also share success stories of peers who have benefited from using these resources.
Check-In Regularly: Set aside time to discuss progress and usage of these platforms with your students. Their feedback can provide valuable insights into how we can enhance their learning experience.
Support Available
If you need assistance navigating these platforms or have questions about how to best utilize them, please reach out. We’re here to support you in ensuring our students’ success.
Panorama Survey for Faculty & Staff
Last Day to Complete the Survey is September 27th
I want to highlight the significance of the Panorama Survey for our school community, which includes teachers, students, and parents. This survey is a valuable tool that can help us gain insights into our school environment and enhance our overall effectiveness.
You received an email around September 11th from: support+episd@panoramaed.com
The link to the staff survey is in that email.
Why the Panorama Survey Matters
Understanding Perspectives: The survey allows us to gather feedback from various stakeholders, giving us a comprehensive view of our school climate, student engagement, and teaching effectiveness. It’s crucial to hear from everyone in our community to identify strengths and areas for growth.
Data-Driven Decision Making: The results provide us with actionable data that can inform our strategies and initiatives. By analyzing this feedback, we can make informed decisions that enhance our teaching practices and improve student outcomes.
Fostering Community Engagement: Encouraging participation from parents and students helps to build a stronger school community. Their input is essential in creating a supportive and enriching environment for everyone.
How You Can Help
Promote Participation: Please remind your students and their families about the importance of taking the survey. The more responses we receive, the more accurate our insights will be.
Encourage Honest Feedback: Stress the importance of providing honest and constructive feedback. This is a chance for everyone to voice their thoughts and contribute to positive change.
Engage in Discussions: After the survey is complete, let’s take the time to discuss the findings as a staff. Identifying key takeaways will help us create a roadmap for improvement.

Purple Star School
El Paso High is Now a Purple Star School
This designation recognizes schools that demonstrate a commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families. This initiative aligns perfectly with our mission to create an inclusive and supportive environment for all students.
What is a Purple Star School?
The Purple Star School program highlights schools that actively assist military families in navigating the unique challenges they face. Achieving this designation will not only benefit our military-connected students but will also enhance our school community as a whole.
I want to thank Angie Reed and Clark Edwinson for putting in a lot of time and effort to make this designation happen.
ROOMS App
If you need help please let me know
As part of our ongoing efforts to enhance our instructional tools and streamline our administrative processes, I wanted to remind everyone that the district-mandated Rooms app is now in full use. This app is a crucial part of our strategy to improve communication and organization within our classrooms.
This week, administration team will be visiting PLCs to check in and offer any additional support you may need with the Rooms app. Our goal is to ensure that everyone is comfortable with the app and to address any questions or challenges you might be facing.
If you have any specific issues or require assistance before our visit, please feel free to reach out to Bruce or Kelly or your AP. We want to make sure you have all the resources you need to make this transition as smooth as possible.

Intruder Detection Audits
Stay Vigilant
The state has start conducting Intruder Detection Audits again. We have failed that last two audits. Doors were propped opened and it took several minutes for anyone to ask a person without an ID who they were.
Required Actions:
-Keep all exterior doors locked.
-All adults must have an ID on. If not, walk them to the attendance office.
-Remove all rocks from exterior doors. This includes portable doors.
