Academy Avenue Announcements

Dear Academy Families & Friends,

As we reach the final few days of the SY21-22 school year, I would like to pause and thank the students and families of our 5th grade team. Six years ago, we began this journey together, starting in kindergarten and now we stand just a few short days from promoting them to middle school; thank you for all the memories and support. Reflecting on these past 6 years, it truly is bittersweet to see them go forward to the new Chapman. We wish you the very best!

This past week, we began this process anew with our incoming K families, as Academy and the WPS held the Kindergarten Screening sessions for new students joining us in September. It was wonderful to see many returning families with siblings as well as new families and faces starting out their Academy careers. Welcome!

Other important points to include from this past week were Field Day, Fun Day for grade 5, Combined elementary Band Recital at WHS, and Fire Safety day. For the week ahead, we celebrate the Juneteenth Holiday (observance on Monday, June 20th with school resuming on Tuesday, June 21) and the 5th Grade Promotion ceremony on Tuesday, June 21 at 10AM.

In closing, I want to thank all of our volunteers. On this Father's Day & as a father of four, I can attest that the kids don't stay little for long. It is so important to make the time to be there for our kids and supporting school events...they go by so fast. Thank you for making these days rich with precious memories for the children of Academy.

All absences should be reported to the Main Office. Messages can be left on the attendance hotline any time, including non-school hours. Please leave a detailed message with your child's first/last name as well as her/his homeroom with the nature of the absence. If you would like a return message from Nurse Ali, please include that in your message.
